Service bulletins for the 2023 Ford F-250

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 518912023-09-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U02A2, P206B, P203B, P208A, P20FA, P20FD, and/or P20FC stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). Before performing normal diagnostics, inspect connectors C1273C (32 pin) and C406 (14 pin) for proper connection. Also disconnect and inspect C1415 (32 pin), C406 (14 pin), C4863 (7 pin) and C4864 (5 pin) for signs of water intrusion and/or corrosion. Refer to the Wiring Diagram for connector locations. Repair as necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagram Cell 005 for repair procedures.
SSM 518042023-07-25. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2201 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). To correct the condition, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-08A, as Pinpoint Test (PPT) RD has been updated to improve diagnostics.
SSM 517912023-07-18. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U029D, U029E, U02A1, U02A3, P2209, P24D0, P22A7, and/or P23B5. This may be due to a wiring chafe on harness 14406 near connector C146 touching the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler on the right side of the engine. Before performing normal diagnostics, inspect 20 amp fuse F18 (position 26). If fuse F18 is found open, inspect the 14406 harness for contact with the EGR cooler and repair as necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Cell 005 for repair procedures. If no damage is found, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 303-08A for normal diagnostics.
SSM 517502023-06-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2023 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine, and built on or before 02-May-2023, may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U029D, U029E, U02A1, U02A3, P2209, P24D0, P22A7, and/or P23B5.
SSM 517192023-06-21. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2021-2023 F-Super Duty/E-Series vehicles equipped with a 6.2L, 6.8L or 7.3L gasoline engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0457 and/or P0455 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a improper fuel filler cap installation and/or outside contamination on the fuel cap sealing surface. The fuel filler cap requires multiple turns to seal properly and should be clean of any debris on sealing surface. Advise the customer to turn the fuel filler cap clockwise until there is at least one audible click to seal properly. If the DTCs return after the fuel filler cap is cleared of debris and properly seated, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-13 > pinpoint test HX.
SSM 516912023-06-16. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. 2011-2023 F-Super Duty and 2016-2024 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this elevated idle to reduce unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR. The powertrain control module estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 RPM for ambient temperatures near 26°C (80°F) and may increase to 1200 RPM at -40 °C (-40°F). Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take-off (PTO) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages.
SSM 514912023-04-06. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2021-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0073 for the ambient air temperature sensor stored in the powertrain control (PCM). When performing pinpoint test BG in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-01, the ambient air temperature sensor/outside air temperature display reset procedure has been added to the Ford Diagnostic Repair System (FDRS) diagnostic scan tool. Depending on how the vehicle is equipped, run the FCIM or HVAC Reset the Outside Air Temperature Sensor Learned Values application. Clear DTCs and retest after performing the reset procedure.
