Service bulletins for the 2016 Dodge Challenger

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

278 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

21039172022-10-24. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN; AIR BAGS. Flash: Transmission Diagnostic and Shift Enhancements This bulletin involves reprogramming the Transmission Control Module (TCM) with the latest available software. Customers may experience a less than desirable down shift during one or more of the following:3-2 coast-down shift. 2-1 coast-down shift. 6-5 coast-down shift. The following software enhancement is available for(6.4L Only):Reduce bumps felt on light to medium decel braking while coming to a stop. Bump could be described as a push, driveline clunk, or engine flare noise right after the 5-4 downshift. The vehicle speed may vary based on the rate of deceleration.
18075172022-10-24. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION; SEAT BELTS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN; AIR BAGS; EXTERIOR LIGHTING. Flash: Powertrain Diagnostic and System Improvements This bulletin involves reprogramming of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with the latest software. Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the technician may find that the following DTCs: P000B - Bank 1 Camshaft 2 Position Slow Response. P0016 - Crankshaft/Camshaft Timing Misalignment - Bank 1 Sensor 1. P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit. P0339 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Intermittent. P0441 - EVAP Purge System Performance. P0455 - EVAP System Large Leak. P2610 - PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance. P0456 - EVAP System Small Leak. P2299 - Brake Pedal Position/Accelerator Pedal Position Incompatible. Customers may also notice the following condition(s): Brief engine idle fluctuation while in hot ambient temperatures. A slight hesitation during light pedal application after engine cold start. Driveline noises. Engine stumble/hesitation on a very hard pedal acceleration from a dead stop. Transmission enhancements during low-speed braking turning maneuvers. False detonation (spark knock) detected during a wide-open throttle (LA Challenger Sales Codes ESH with DEC only). In addition, the following software enhancements are available: Reduce bumps felt on light to medium decal braking and coming to a stop. Launch spark improvement change from 35 MPH to 10 MPH. Reverse lock out speed change from 10 MPH to 3 MPH (Sales Code DEC only). Torque security calibration changes to desensitize brake throttle override entry conditions. Calibration changes to address engine speed undershoot/overshoot during clutch disengagement when coming to a stop (Sales Code DEC only). Start fuel and transient fuel calibration change for improved drivability robustness. Purge calibration changes for a more robust purge volume result at altitude. Individual Cylinder Fuel Control (ICFC) calibration changes for improved fueling offset accuracy.
90037042022-09-26. Service bulletin. SEATS; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; AIR BAGS; POWER TRAIN; BACK OVER PREVENTION; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Transmission Oil Pan, Heater (TMU), Tube or O-ring Applies to vehicles equipped with 8 speed transmissions only; if you have a leak that appears to be at the pan the use of proper leak detection is recommended. The fluid in the 8 speeds can be detected with a black light and there are aftermarket spray on leak detection materials to help ensure that the leak is properly diagnosed and not from another location such as cooler lines, heater tubes, or case porosity. Please note that the transmission pan gasket is available for many of the 8 speed applications FCA offers. Please review the available quick connect and transfer tube parts, as replacement of the TMU may not be required. If a TOC line connection is found to be the source, the quick connect may need replacement. If the leak source is coming from the connection of the TMU to the transmission, the transfer tube may need replacement. When parts are returned to the QEC the retaining clips (snap ring) for the quick disconnect fittings are missing. (This leaves a question as to whether the clips were missing from the assembly plant, or the technician removed them in order to make line removal easier.) Please return the clips with the transmission heater and note if they were not there to begin with. For any questions regarding transmission heater, contact FCA Redacted Content. If no response in 15 minutes, proceed with repair.
