183572022-05-31. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:COLUMN SHIFT ASSEMBLY; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; POWER TRAIN. Special Coverage. On some vehicles, the vehicle may inadvertently shift into manual mode and, depending on the vehicle?s speed, the transmission will automatically downshift to first or second gear, resulting in a safe, but unwanted vehicle deceleration. If this occurs, the driver will not be able to shift out of manual mode until the vehicle. is turned off and back on again. The vehicle will also set diagnostic trouble codes P0816 and P1876. Dealers are to remove and replace the shifter assembly. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer

This may be caused by water intrusion into the vehicle’s manual transmission output speed sensor or could be induced by the customer slipping the clutch for an extended period of time, as in holding the vehicle on a hill.

THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES A SERVICE PROCEDURE TO REPROGRAM THE ECM ON CERTAIN 2013-2014 MODEL YEAR CADILLAC ATS VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH A 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION (M3L). THESE VEHICLES HAVE SOFTWARE THAT PROTECTS THE ENGINE DUAL-MASS FLYWHEEL. WHILE DECELERATING AND COMING TO A STOP, THE SOFTWARE MAY SUSPEND ENGINE OPERATION IF THE CUSTOMER FAILS TO DECLUTCH OR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AS THE VEHICLE SLOWS, FORCING THE ENGINE RPM WELL BELOW NORMAL IDLE SPEEDS. THIS WILL OCCUR WITHOUT DRIVELINE VIBRATION OR NOISE TO PROVIDE INDICATION TO THE CUSTOMER, WHO MAY COMPLAIN OF AN UNEXPECTED STALL WHILE COMING TO A STOP. THE NEW CALIBRATION HAS A REVISED DMF PROTECTION ALGORITHM THAT WILL ALLOW LOWER ENGINE SPEEDS AND ADDITIONAL DRIVER FEEDBACK TO DECLUTCH OR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, BEFORE INTERVENTION OCCURS.
