This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have an oily substance is found on the inside windshield surface and appears to be leaking from the rear view mirror area. Technician should inspect the moisture sensor for being the source of the leak, if found to be leaking, carefully remove the moisture sensor. Clean the glass surface and sensor bracket with an isopropanol alcohol wipe until the surfaces are clean, then re-install the moisture sensor.

G-1680822017-08-15. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD. 13185 - Service Update. Inspect and, if necessary, repair a possible windshield water leak. These vehicles may have been produced with a urethane seal at the upper right corner of the windshield that is out of position and may fall into a locating slot on the body side. A vehicle produced with this condition may leak water during a car wash or heavy rain. The water may wet the headliner leading to staining or odor.

This Preliminary Information communication provides the technician with steps to resolve the issue of an oily substance that may be found on the inside windshield surface, and appears to be leaking from the rear view mirror area. Technician will remove the moisture sensor and clean the glass and mounting bracket with alcohol wipe. If the gel separates from the sensor the sensor will need to be replaced.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles with radio speakers have poor audio quality, buzz, pop, static type noise or no audio. Technician should inspect the trunk mounted radio amplifier for any signs of moisture. Technician will need to Replace the amplifier if water is present and replace any terminals that have corrosion. Also water test the trunk, sunroof, back glass and roof areas. Technician will need to fix any water leaks and clean out all drain tubes.

Windshields are SOLAR glass with a light transmittance of >/=70%. Front door glass are Solar glass with a light transmission of >/=70%. Rear door glass, quarter windows and back windows can use either Solar glass (>/=70%) or Privacy glass, which has a light transmittance of 20%.
