Service bulletins for the 2018 BMW X3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

389 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

B1601232024-02-01. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. A vehicle arrives at your center to be diagnosed for a micro-leak in the fuel evaporative (EVAP) system(NVLD natural vacuum leak detection). For this condition, the following fault is stored in the DME: 190302 - fuel tank ventilation and scavenging air system, micro-leak: leakage more than 0.5mm For: Model vehicles other that the ones listed above, or for EVAP faults related to a “large leak,” after confirming that the fuel filler cap is fitted properly, then, proceed to follow the corresponding test plan
B1601232023-07-24. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. A vehicle arrives at your center to be diagnosed for a micro-leak in the fuel evaporative (EVAP) system (NVLD natural vacuum leak detection). For this condition, the following fault is stored in the DME: 190302 - fuel tank ventilation and scavenging air system, micro-leak: leakage more than 0.5 mm.
B1603222022-12-12. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. The Check Engine Light is on (MIL). After checking faults and diagnosis there is raw fuel found in the charcoal canister and the NVLD pressure switch (in R/R wheel well). Possible faults stored in the DME: 190F08 - Fuel tank venting system: Malfunction 191C02 - Fuel tank venting system,2. discharge point: Malfunction The vent line inside the fuel tank is disconnected.
B1701212022-06-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. The quick disconnect coupling on the cylinder head coolant vent line could break at the cylinder head. This would lead to loss of coolant from the engine.
B1703202020-06-15. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; LANE DEPARTURE; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. COOLANT LINE QUICK DISCONNECTS LEAK IN LOW TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW -15Ë?C (5Ë?F): The coolant reservoir in the high or low temperature cooling system is low There may be a coolant leak under the vehicle There may be a check control message (ID166) to top up coolant The low temperature cooling system have a low level warning indicator. One or more faults may be stored related to the low temp cooling system: DME - 20A201 - charge air cooling system: Coolant pump protective function due to dry running active DME - 20A209 - charge air cooling system: Coolant pump protective function due to dry running active IHKA - 80120A - Compressor: Switch off due to excess pressure in the refrigerant circuit The outside temperature at the time of the complaint is at or below -15Ë? C (5Ë? F) The O-rings that seal the quick disconnect coolant lines will not seal properly when outside temperatures are at or below -15Ë? C (5Ë? F).
B1302192019-05-20. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. SERVICE ACTION: CHECK THE TANK VENT VALVE LINE. In certain conditions the engine wiring harness may come in contact with the tank vent value line. Due to vibrations and oscillations the corrugated tubing of the engine wiring harness could wear through the tank vent valve line. Unfavorable clearance between the engine wiring harness and tank vent valve line.
B6206182018-08-06. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM. FUEL GAUGE INCORRECTLY DISPLAYING LOW FUEL LEVEL: Occasionally, on restart after refueling, the fuel gauge will display the fuel level as low (minimum) and the range display will be at an implausible (maximum) value.
B1301182018-05-07. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. SERVICE ACTION: CHECK ROUTING OF FUEL LINE: The fuel feed line is not correctly routed behind the tank ventilation line and may conflict with components of the intake system.
