| 10V276000 | 2010-06-18. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007 THROUGH 2009 R 1200 AND K 1200 SERIES MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 2006 THROUGH MAY 2009. DUE TO THE CURRENT ROUTING OF THE FRONT BRAKE LINES, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT DURING RIDING, AND THEREFORE ASSOCIATED VIBRATION. THE BRAKE LINES COULD BE UNDER STRAIN. IF THE VIBRATION/STRAIN IS SIGNIFICANT, THE BRAKE LINE COULD SPLIT AND START TO DEVELOP A LEAK. |
| 08V342000 | 2008-07-25. STEERING. BMW IS RECALLING 428 MY 2007 F800 S, F800 ST, R1200 R, K1200 S, K1200 R, K1200 R SPORT, AND K1200 GT MOTORCYCLES. DUE TO THE CURRENT ROUTING OF THE FRONT BRAKE LINES, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT DURING RIDING, THE BRAKE LINES COULD BE UNDER STRAIN. IF THE VIBRATION/STRAIN IS SIGNIFICANT, THE BRAKE LINES COULD SPLIT AND START TO DEVELOP A LEAK. IF THE LEAK BECAME SIGNIFICANT, BRAKE FLUID COULD ESCAPE. IF THIS HAPPENED, THE LEVEL OF FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR OF THE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM COULD DROP. Built 2006-08-30 to 2008-02-05. |
| 2017428 | 2017-09-01. Lights And Instruments. Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CVMSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard. |

| 2015101 | 2015-03-11. Powertrain. On certain motorcycles, the threaded holes on the rear wheel flange could crack if the wheel bolts are tightened beyond the specified torque limit during servicing. Over time, this could allow the bolts to back out of their threaded holes, causing the rear wheel to become loose. This could result in a loss of stability of the motorcycle, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the aluminum rear wheel flange with a steel flange. |
| 2013442 | 2013-12-13. Fuel System. On certain motorcycles, cracks could develop in the fuel pump and/or auxiliary fuel pump flange (if equipped). This would result in fuel leaking when the engine is turned on and the fuel system is pressurized. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the fuel pump flange(s) and install a reinforcing ring or replace the fuel pump(s), as necessary. |
| 2010204 | 2010-05-19. Brakes. On certain motorcycles, the front brake lines (due to its current routing) may be under strain. The vibrations that occur when the motorcycle is being ridden could cause the brake lines to develop leaks, allowing brake fluid to escape and cause the level of fluid in the reservoir of the front brake system to drop. Brake fluid leakage could result in loss of front braking capability, which could lead to a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the front brake lines. |
| 2008267 | 2008-07-29. Steering. On certain motorcycles, it is possible for the coating to separate from the inside face of the steering damper housing. If this happens, the coating could partially clog the oil bores within the damper. Should this occur, the steering damper could become stiff, making it difficult to steer, and therefore could result in a vehicle crash causing personal injuries or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering damper. |
| 2008153 | 2008-05-06. Brakes. On certain motorcycles, vibrations that occur when underway could cause the front brake lines to suffer damage and develop a leak. Brake fluid leakage could ultimately result in loss of front braking capability which, depending on traffic conditions and the rider's reactions, could result in a crash causing personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the front brake lines. |
