Service bulletins for the 2011 Bentley Continental

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

2065604/12022-01-06. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Suspicion that control units or services have been influenced by third parties. Customer statement / workshop findings: In the event a customer complaint is received relating to a suspicion that control units or services have been influenced by third parties the instructions within this TPI should be followed. Technical background: A suspicion that control units or services have been influenced by third parties means that unauthorised people or groups may have gained access to a vehicle's control unit(s) or online services and may have manipulated them in such a way that may compromise customer data confidentiality or the operation of the vehicle and/or online services. When investigating potential third party influences of control units or online services, it is important to take all normal diagnostic measures to rule out a normal functional error or misuse of the system by the user
2038562/32021-11-06. Service bulletin. SEAT BELTS. Continental GT Convertible - Front seat belt webbing twisted. Condition: Front seat belt webbing twisted. Technical Background: The plastic seat belt webbing guide, a plastic moulding incorporated in the seat belt upper D loop assembly, may not have been fully clipped onto the metal D loop. When this is the case a twist in the seat belt webbing is possible.
2033170/42021-11-06. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; AIR BAGS. Air Bag Warning - Resistance Related Fault Codes. Condition: Air bag warning displayed. Service: To be applied to applicable cars exhibiting fault codes as detailed above. Although the fault codes may only be appertaining to one side of the car at the time of complaint the new harness must be fitted in its entirety, integrated into both the drivers and front passengers seat belt real assembly. The procedure consists of electrically disconnecting the original wires connecting the air bag control module to the front seat belt reels. This is done by cutting off the ends of the connectors at the seat belt reel end and de-pinning the main connector housing at the control module end, the redundant wires are then taped back into the main harness. The new harness is then connected to the components and secured to the main harness.
2064715/12021-11-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; SEAT BELTS:FRONT:WEBBING; SEAT BELTS. Condition: The front seat belt webbing is twisted, this is evident in both the stowed position and also when the seat belt is worn. Technical Background The seat belt webbing twists on retraction, this is due to the gap between the seat belt webbing guide and the webbing being out of tolerance. The modification within this TPI should be applied to both the right and left hand side regardless if only one side is at fault. IMPORTANT: During this TPI the workshop manual is quoted to help in carrying out various tasks, it is recommended that the procedures referenced are checked by the operative as the process within the workshop manual may have changed since last viewed.

Technical background: The list of Bentley vehicles below are fitted with air springs as part of the suspension system. Should air leak from the air springs, this will cause the suspension to drop. However, the dropping of the suspension does not necessarily mean that the air spring is faulty. The Measure section of this TPI describes how and where to check for air leaks on the front and rear air springs, the air pump compressor, pipes, valve unit and air reservoirs. This includes potential air leak points on the air springs and also the locations of an air leak that can be repaired without the need to replace an air spring.

Technical background: We have observed instances where the caps have been difficult to remove once fitted, the issue is caused by corrosion. The valve stem itself is made from aluminium and the accessory valve caps are chromium plated brass, it is possible under certain environmental conditions, particularly winter road salt, for corrosion to take place between these dissimilar metals. Measure: The solution is to apply a thin smear of silicon-based grease, such as Dow Corning high vacuum grease, to the external threads of the valve stem prior to fitting the accessory valve cap. Grease should be applied any time the cap is removed and grease is not evident
