Service bulletins for the 2015 Audi RS 5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A911590 2040406-2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 15-87 dated May 18, 2015. When the vehicle is started, the GPS location or vehicle direction indicated on the MMI navigation map does not match the vehicle?s actual location or direction of travel for a long period of time (often as long as 10 minutes). The issue occurs in open sky, with no large buildings obstructing the sky view. The issue is intermittent, but it can occur for long periods of time during a single day. The issue typically happens on very warm days when the HVAC system blower is at a medium to high setting (auto or manual), with air being directed out of the panel vents. When the issue occurs, the GPS navigation system satellite reception shows 0 satellites. Due to the infrequency of the issue, this might not be verifiable. (To view the number of satellites being received, go to Nav >> Route >> Select Current Position (first item in list) and scroll up. No DTCs related to the GPS antenna or MMI system are present. The vehicle is an A4 (including S4 and allroad variants), A5 (including Cabriolet, S5, and RS 5 variants), A6 (including S6 variant), A7 (including S7/RS 7 variants), A8 (including long wheelbase, S8, or W12 variants) or Q5 (including SQ5 and hybrid variants). Q7 and Q3 vehicles are not affected by this condition. The failure can happen at start-up or while the vehicle is being driven. The issue typically starts when the vehicle is driven on curvy or circular roads, driven in circles (such as when driven around a parking lot), or driven on or off an expressway.
A871564 2010146-2017-10-27. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 15-63 dated May 18, 2015. There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor.
A461516 2034143-2017-10-27. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 14-85 dated July 14, 2014. A461500 2034181-2017-10-25. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. The customer may report hearing brake noise from front or rear brakes. The customer may describe these noises as a squeal, squeak, grinding, groaning, thumping, or creaking. Brake noise can be attributed to many causes. Aftermarket pads or discs have been installed. There is debris (such as small stones, grit, road salt, or sand) between brake disc and brake pad. Discs are covered with rust. A911588 2026390-2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. When a phonebook with a large number of contacts is being downloaded, the MMI screen freezes Briefly after the initial Bluetooth connection (shortly after the phone is bonded to the vehicle), after the ignition is switched on (shortly after the phone automatically reconnects with the vehicle), and after the phonebook has downloaded. When the voice recognition system is used, a message appears in the MMI screen stating that the phone book is too large and that the voice recognition system cannot be used. When music is streamed to the MMI system with the Bluetooth A2DP connection, the music intermittently pauses or seems to skip. The condition goes away once the phonebook transfer is completed. The MMI uses a limited portion of the total memory to convert the name and phone number fields of downloaded contacts into a voice command (text to speech). Extensive processing takes place if too many letters are used in the first and last name fields or if numbers or special characters are entered. The remaining memory is dynamically assigned to different applications which can also affect the capacity of the voice command processing. The MMI does not respond until the process is completed or it may freeze if phonebook fields are too large or do not follow typical formatting. In addition, the text-to-speech capacity is exceeded and the voice recognition system is rendered inactive.
A911587 2040406-2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). When the vehicle is started, the GPS location or vehicle direction indicated on the MMI navigation map does not match the vehicle's actual location or direction of travel for a long period of time (often as long as 10 minutes). No DTCs related to the GPS antenna or MMI system are present. If the sky view is blocked because the vehicle is in a parking structure, below ground, or next to large buildings, it is normal for the GPS location or vehicle direction indicated on the MMI navigation map to not match the vehicle's actual location or direction of travel. The blocked sky view prevents the vehicle from receiving satellites, and the system may be temporarily lost until four satellites can be received. This is a normal condition, and is not related to the condition described above. Replacing the MMI main unit will not change this behavior. A potential failure in the internal hardware of the MMI main unit can cause the GPS signal to be blocked, even if good reception is available. The failure can happen at start-up or while the vehicle is being driven. The issue typically starts when the vehicle is driven on curvy or circular roads, driven in circles (such as when driven around a parking lot), or driven on or off an expressway.
A911578 2011500-2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 08-129 dated November 12, 2008. Customer states that the reception of satellite radio occasionally fades or drops out. The information display may show a message related to the satellite radio, such as "Linking", "Updating", "Acquiring Signal", "Loading", "No Signal", or "No Sat".
A461599 2034181-2017-10-21. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. The customer may report hearing brake noise from front or rear brakes. The customer may describe these noises as a squeal, squeak, grinding, groaning, thumping, or creaking. Brake noise can be attributed to many causes. Brake discs or brake pads are close to or below their wear limit. Aftermarket pads or discs have been installed. There is debris (such as small stones, grit, road salt, or sand) between brake disc and brake pad. Discs are covered with rust. Rust can form when the vehicle has not been driven for a long period of time.
