Service bulletins for the 2013 Audi Q5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A661338 2035673-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES:EXTERIOR. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 66 number 13-37 dated November 4, 2013. Customer may report hearing wind noise from the front door area when the vehicle is driven at highway speeds. After diagnosis, it is determined that the source of the wind noise is the exterior rear view mirrors. Throughout the development of the Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, various features have been added to the exterior rear view mirrors. The added features include the turn signal lamp, side assist lamp, perimeter lamp, etc. As the complexity of the exterior rear view mirror increases, the mirrors become more susceptible to wind noise. The two main sources of wind noise from the exterior rear view mirrors are: the seam surrounding the turn signal lamp and the seam at the mirror base. The modifications explained in the Service section of this bulletin will effectively mitigate the wind noise symptom for the customer.

A551333 2035797-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; SUSPENSION. The customer complains of hearing a creaking or knocking noise from the front of the vehicle when the vehicle is twisted, such as when being driven into or out of a driveway. The customer may describe the location of the noise source as the front suspension area. This type of noise may be caused by the contact between the hood height adjustment stop buffers and the lock carrier. While noises originating from the front of the vehicle may have a number of causes, the repair described below will eliminate this possible cause.
A461361 2035710-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Customer may report hearing a clunk noise when brakes are applied at slow speeds after the vehicle has changed direction (e.g., parking lot maneuvers). This PSS TSB does not apply to Q5 Hybrid models. Various parts have been replaced under warranty for the condition noted above, but no issues have been identified with the replaced parts.
A441344 2022563-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. STEERING; SUSPENSION. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 13-42 dated September 27, 2013. A191346 2033491-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 13-44 dated July 18, 2013. Customer may report coolant leaking from the engine area. The leak can be traced to the connection of the water pump and the hose leading to the heater core. The seal ring is not the cause of the leak.
A171347 2035463-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 13-44 dated October 22, 2013. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine, and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner?s Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, and the ambient temperature and road conditions. Additional factors include the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Utilizing the advanced sensor technology integrated in models equipped with the 3.0 TFSI engine, it is possible to measure oil consumption electronically via a Guided Function test plan. If the electronic oil consumption test is not available for this model, perform the test with the conventional scale/oil weighing method. See TSB 2018550 for instructions for the conventional scale/oil weighing method.
A011342 2033379-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 13-78 dated March 20, 2013. DTC is stored in the engine control module. Red oil pressure warning light may be on. An oil filter that is too short is installed. The oil filter must be 155 (+/-1) mm long. If the oil filter is too short, the drain flap in the oil filter housing will not be completely closed and oil pressure will be lost.
