Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A8

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

1107 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

There are squeaking noises coming from the front door when the window is operated. When the window guide seal is not correctly fitted in the rail of the front door, it can lead to increased friction. This increased resistance causes the squeaking noises.
A801304 2033806-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 80 number 13-03 dated May 13, 2013. Malfunction Indicator Lamp is on. Climate system heating performance is insufficient. Coolant level warning is on. Engine temperature is elevated. "Limp Home" mode is active. Faults are stored in the transmission control module. Coolant loss is found from one or more control valves: N82, N509, or N488. Coolant may have migrated into the wiring harness through the connector and into various control units. Climate system heating performance is insufficient due to coolant loss, or due to a faulty N82 control valve. Inspection of the coolant control valves N82, N509, or N488 reveals the presence of coolant inside the electrical connector. The connectors, wiring harness, and/or connected control units may have been damaged from exposure to coolant.
A871344 2020124-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-43 dated July 12, 2013. Air conditioning is inoperative. The HVAC blower functions normally. The A/C pressure/temperature sensor, G395, leaks refrigerant. This causes sensor G395 to show an incorrect or implausible value when reading MVBs. An incorrect signal or a low refrigerant level in the system can cause the air conditioning compressor to deactivate. Battery discharged; however, when charged, there is no bus silence when vehicle ignition is off. The LIN cable connecting the vehicle electrical system control module, J519, to sensor G395 is pinched or cut. This affects the A4/S4, A5/S5 Coupe and Cabriolet, and Q5 vehicles. The A6 and A8 are not affected by this type of failure. The pressure sensor G395/G65 sends an incorrect signal that prevents bus silence and the battery is discharged. Sensor G395 is a LIN slave of the vehicle electrical system control module. The vehicle electrical system control module transfers the information provided by the sensor via the comfort data bus to the climate control module, J255.
A911302 2018187-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-20 dated October 21, 2011. Customer may report that cracking, grinding, rattling, humming, whining, or similar interference is coming from one or more speakers. Parts of the speakers (such as the brackets, cables, or covers) or parts of the interior fittings (such as door covers, rear shelf, facings, or covers) can vibrate at certain frequencies, causing noises. The radio tuner or other control modules may be affected by electromagnetic interference from aftermarket electronic devices.
A911398 2030465-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-65 dated October 25, 2012. MMI 3G+ Sound system "popping" and various other technical Issues (K0715 Update). Only apply this bulletin to vehicles if the customer complaint is in the correct group. Applying the update to vehicles outside of the appropriate group can cause repeat repairs and the warranty claim may be denied. This bulletin only applies to vehicles with Navigation Plus (PR Number 8DY). The applicable vehicles can be clearly identified by the SIM card slot on the faceplate of the front MMI mainunit.
A911396 2026390-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-38 dated March 2, 2012. When a phonebook with a large number of contacts is being downloaded, the MMI screen freezes in one of the following scenarios: * After the initial Bluetooth connection (shortly after the phone is bonded to the vehicle), the screen freezes briefly. * After the ignition is switched on (shortly after the phone automatically reconnects with the vehicle). * After the phonebook has downloaded. * When the voice recognition system is used, a message appears in the MMI screen stating that the phone book is too large and that the voice recognition system cannot be used. The command "Call <Name from directory>" is a global MMI command that is available in the telephone menu and main menu screens. If either menu is displayed, the message can appear when the voice recognition button (push to talk) on the steering wheel is pressed.
A961367 2019260-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-37 dated June 11, 2012. The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer's door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 Model Years 2005 - 2006 and A3 Model Year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer's HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter's programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal.
A961368 2029384-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 13-64 dated June 20, 2013. The customer is able to program one or more of the Homelink buttons using their garage door remote, but after a few days or weeks, one or more of the programmed Homelink buttons no longer functions. The LED on the Homelink button that is no longer functioning now flashes slowly, indicating that no programming is stored. The customer's transmitter operates at 295Mhz. No DTCs are stored in any control units. At the workshop, the Homelink system can be programmed to the workshop garage door successfully. No trouble is found. The garage door opener control module, J530, was designed with an operational frequency range in which the 295Mhz frequency works correctly during the initial programming of the system. Over time, the transmitting frequency can drift out of range (especially in warmer climates), causing the system to lose its programming.
A961369 2034516-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST. Road lane markings are not detected or the Audi lane assist system is inoperative after the lane assist camera control module, J852, has been calibrated, the windshield has been replaced, or the air suspension level sensors have been adapted. A DTC for incorrect calibration may be stored in the camera control module (address word 85). The camera control module has not been properly calibrated; there is no technical problem.

A531302 2034404-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report that the vehicle does not start due to a discharged battery. DTC U101100 (supply voltage too low) is stored in the gateway, J533 (address word 19), and/or the electronic parking brake (EPB) control module, J540 (address word 53). According to the test plan "19-Read Data Bus Keep-Awake Manager", the EPB control module kept the data bus active for prolonged periods of time. The EPB switch appears to be permanently operating (applying or releasing the parking brake) due to an internal mechanical issue or because it is jammed or blocked by debris or by a foreign object. Test plan "19-Read Data Bus Keep-Awake Manager", identifies the EPB control module as keeping the data bus active for prolonged periods of time.
A461348 2034404-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. PARKING BRAKE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 53 number 13-02 dated July 11, 2013. A461347 2034387-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report sporadically hearing the parking brake being actuated after the vehicle has been switched off. If the customer does not identify the sound as the sound of the parking brake being actuated, he or she may simply complain of hearing noises from the rear brakes. Ignition is switched off. Steering is locked. Park is selected. Parking brake is not engaged. If the electro-mechanical parking brake is not operated for some time, the free play between brake pads and brake discs increases because of normal brake pad wear. The parking brake control unit performs an automatic correction about every 621 miles (1,000 km). On A8 models, the brake pad thickness is also calculated.
A371309 2028715-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-40 dated February 28, 2012. Rough gear changes, both when accelerating and when slowing down. There is a rough driving power disruption that occurs sporadically and lasts for less than a second. After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted.
A941306 2017806-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 12-79 dated June 6, 2012. Light bulb warning light and the message Vehicle lights: malfunction is displayed in the instrument cluster display. DTC 03280 (Light switch position implausible signal) is stored in the vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (09). Exterior lights are functioning properly. If the headlight switch is moved to an intermediate position and remains there, the light bulb warning light and the error message appear after approximately ten seconds. Once displayed, the message turns off after approximately five seconds. The light bulb warning light turns off only after the headlight switch is turned to a defined position, and the status of DTC 03280 is changed to sporadic. After 40 driving cycles without an implausible signal detected, the DTC is automatically cleared.
A911376 2033032-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Call quality using the hands-free function is poor. Additionally, voice-activated functions may be restricted. The driver sounds muffled. The voice of the driver is quiet. The driver's voice is accompanied by background interference. Voice activated commands are not recognized. Various malfunctions can result from the normal airflow out of center instrument panel vents that are directed upward at the microphones in the roof module, which can limit microphone sensitivity.
A911374 2024323-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated October 1, 2012. Parking aid sporadically warns of obstacles when none exist. Parking aid is inoperative or provides constant warning. Various parking aid sensor fitting issues. Environmental conditions.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
