Service bulletins for the 2014 Audi A6
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A701545 2029280- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 70 number 14-37 dated April 24, 2014. The customer may report hearing noises from the upper dashboard area when driving on poor roads, making phone calls, or playing music. The noise can be caused by unfavorable tolerances between the instrument panel speaker and the center speaker trim. A speaker that has been incorrectly installed can make the condition worse. Because there is no attachment to the trim carrier in the speaker cut-out, this area is the likely source of the vibration. |
| A391515 2028902- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 39 number 14-14 dated May 5, 2014. Audi of America (in conjunction with AUDI AG) is conducting a pilot program in the USA with a limited number of specially-built vehicles. These vehicles have a persistent internet connection and are designed to be accessed and started without the need for a traditional remote key. Instead, these vehicles use NFC (Near-field connectivity), or an iPhone with the Audi on Demand app, utilizing Bluetooth connectivity. The customer must leave the NFC card with the vehicle in order for the vehicle to be accessed and started. |
| A941564 2017806- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 15-60 dated February 12, 2015. | A911580 2036575- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-27 dated March 4, 2014. The addresses and contacts stored in the Navigation >> Favorites, Navigation >> Directory, and Navigation >> Last destinations submenus disappear intermittently. Intermittently, the MMI system does not appear to remember that the user's myAudi PIN has already been entered, and it requires the user to enter the PIN again. The voice recognition system does not easily recognize commands spoken by the driver. This condition can be consistent or intermittent. Multiple voice recognition training sessions can be stored in the MMI for different users when different phones are Bluetooth-paired during each training session. If no phone is paired, the training session will be stored under a default profile. This profile will be used each time the voice recognition system is used without a phone being paired to the MMI. This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi warranty. |
| A911579 2038824- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-69 dated November 4, 2014. The following message appears on the MMI display: "Device or cable type not supported". The AMI cable being used is a genuine Audi-branded cable with an Audi part number (see Required Parts and Tools for a list of valid part numbers). The "Device or cable type not supported" message may be displayed when an incorrect AMI cable type is connected to the MMI system. Only cables with an Audi part number (i.e., 4F0.XXX.XXX) are supported by the MMI system. Volkswagen-branded cables look similar, but are not guaranteed to work with Audi MMI systems. The label on the end of an Audi-branded cable has an Audi logo and Audi part number. Audi-branded cables have unique firmware inside the hardware that can determine which MMI system and iOS device are connected to the cable. Volkswagen cables do not have this firmware. The firmware is required to allow the system to function normally due to the different technology available in the different MMI systems and in the different iPhones and iPod Touch devices. In addition, the AMI system was designed to play the music stored locally on the connected device only. Music streaming (from Spotify or Pandora, for example) is not supported, and music stored in the cloud (on Google Play, Amazon Prime, or iTunes Match/iCloud, for example) may drop out, pause, and skip when played. |
| A911578 2011500- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 08-129 dated November 12, 2008. Customer states that the reception of satellite radio occasionally fades or drops out. The information display may show a message related to the satellite radio, such as "Linking", "Updating", "Acquiring Signal", "Loading", "No Signal", or "No Sat". |
| A481565 2034351- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. STEERING:COLUMN; STEERING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 14-57 dated January 29, 2014. Customer may report hearing creaking or squeaking noise from the steering column when steering slowly (the noise can be duplicated while the vehicle is stationary if the steering wheel is turned slowly). The noise may get louder at higher temperatures or when the vehicle is driven for a longer period of time. The noise comes from the sealing sleeve/steering column opening on the bulkhead. Insufficient lubrication of the intermediate steering shaft in the area of the sealing sleeve. |
| A171557 2010043- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 13-35 dated January 9, 2013. This bulletin lists engine oils that meet Audi oil quality standards (VW 501 01, 502 00, 505 00, 505 01, and 504 00/507 00). |
| A101511 2018288- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 10 number 13-10 dated September 5, 2013. Prior to engine replacement, any debris lodged in transferred assemblies must be removed. If the engine experienced a serious mechanical problem, it is possible that small pieces of metal debris resulting from the mechanical problem may have become deposited in the intake manifold, air intake hoses, exhaust manifolds, exhaust down-pipes, turbocharger, supercharger, and/or intercooler. If these metal debris pieces are not removed prior to the installation and operation of the replacement engine, they could be drawn into the combustion chamber, which can cause a knocking noise and subsequent serious engine damage. |
| A011514 2014753- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 13-09 dated June 21, 2013. The use of contaminated gasoline or gasoline with a low content of deposit control additives may result in excessive accumulation of deposits on intake valves, intake manifold, fuel injectors, and combustion chambers, engine running rough after cold start, excessive engine cranking time, hesitations while driving, rough engine idle, Reduced engine performance, and/or Poor fuel economy. Conditions may be severe enough to illuminate the MIL in conjunction with storage of DTCs for misfire, lean fuel system, or air/fuel ratio imbalance in the engine control module. Condition may be caused by use of contaminated gasoline. Condition may be caused by use of gasoline with a low content of deposit control additives. |
| A011513 2030580- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 15-08 dated February 17, 2015. The customer complains that the vehicle sporadically cannot be started. The yellow gearbox warning light may be illuminated. DTCs P15700 and/or P170100 may be present. The remote key being used is transmitting incomplete immobilizer information to the vehicle, resulting in the condition. |
| A941559 2039584- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. A bulb failure warning for one or several taillight functions appears in the instrument cluster, but the taillights are operating normally. The warning only occurs at very low outside temperatures. DTC entries are logged in the comfort system central control module. The transistor in the taillight is a component of the bulb failure monitor. The transistor is out of tolerance, which causes the bulb failure monitor to not see enough current consumption when outside temperatures are very low. This causes a false lamp failure warning. |
| A901552 2039429- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. The vehicle horn sounds abnormal or is inoperative. Various parts have been replaced under warranty for the condition noted above, but no issues were identified with these parts. Contact the Audi Technical Assistance Center (TAC) before replacing any parts. No changes to production have been made, as no issue has been identified. |
| A461599 2034181- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. The customer may report hearing brake noise from front or rear brakes. The customer may describe these noises as a squeal, squeak, grinding, groaning, thumping, or creaking. Brake noise can be attributed to many causes. Brake discs or brake pads are close to or below their wear limit. Aftermarket pads or discs have been installed. There is debris (such as small stones, grit, road salt, or sand) between brake disc and brake pad. Discs are covered with rust. Rust can form when the vehicle has not been driven for a long period of time. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
