Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

1064 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

Transmission warning may appear in instrument cluster. After ignition cycle, the warning message is no longer present. The fault occurs with ATF temperature below 60o C. Check for this temperature range in the extended environmental conditions of the diagnosis protocol. This TSB only applies if the ATF level is correct and there are no leaks.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM):SOFTWARE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Customer may report transmission warning light is illuminated. In some cases, the vehicle will not move after being started and placed into gear. After key cycle, the vehicle drives without restriction. The DTCs are stored due to an issue with the transmission control module software.

If the memory is read with guided fault finding (GFF) or if Immobilizer test plans are performed, the above DTC entries may be stored due to a communication error between the VAS tester and the TCM. (In particular, the issue happens with tester VAS 5051B).
37 14 23 20284722022-05-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. The ignition key cannot be removed even though the gear shifter is in Park (P). The vehicle is mechanically in the Park position, but this is not recognized electronically. The gear shifter cannot be moved from the Park position. On vehicles with Audi advanced key, the vehicle cannot be locked by remote control after the engine has been switched off.The Park position of the gear shifter is sporadically not recognized, which causes the ignition key to not be cleared and prevents the vehicle from being locked.
37 14 22 20289852022-05-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; UNKNOWN OR OTHER; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). The fault occurs with ATF temperature below 60° C. Check for this temperature range in the extended environmental conditions of the diagnosis protocol. This TSB only applies if the ATF level is correct and there are no leaks.

The DTCs are stored due to an issue with the transmission control module software. Specific DFCCs are stored as a result of the following situations: ? DTC P060A00 with DFCC 8692 can be logged when a driving mode (Drive or Reverse) is selected within one second of selecting Neutral, while the vehicle rolls at a speed less than 2 mph (such as when the vehicle is being maneuvered in or out of a parking spot). ? 37 13 09 20287152022-05-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:GEARS. After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted.
37 13 08 20341632022-05-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Software error in the transmission control module. Customer may report that the transmission does not work correctly. ? Shortly after a cold start, the following message appears in the instrument cluster display: ?Gearbox Malfunction! Journey can be continued?. The gearbox is in limp mode until the key is cycled. ? The issue is very sporadic and cannot be reproduced with a test drive. ? DTC P17E1 (Gear positioner 2 mechanical malfunction) with DFCC 9473 is stored in the transmission control module, J743 (address word 02). ? The DFCC is the 4-6 digit code that is typically listed before the fault code (Figure 1).
