Service bulletins for the 2010 Audi A5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A911428 2036576- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-26 dated February 24, 2014. The MMI screen goes blank then restarts or the MMI screen freezes for a few minutes then recovers when a phone is connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth when the user searches for a contact name in the MMI address book (by using the MMI control knob or the voice recognition system). This condition occurs because special characters (including symbols, emoticons, or map icons) are stored in the name field of a phonebook contact. |

| A691428 2023323- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE-INACTIVE; AIR BAGS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 69 number 13-26 dated October 21, 2013. After the airbag control module (J234) has been replaced, the control unit cannot be coded via SVM spec/actual. An SVM code is required to code and parameterize the new service replacement airbag control module. Each model's SVM code is provided in a parts bulletin (GP bulletin), which should have been referenced through ETKA when the module was replaced. The control module cannot be coded until the SVM code has been executed. If the SVM code was not acquired through the GP bulletin in ETKA, follow the instructions in the Service section of this bulletin to update the control module. |
| A461475 2033674- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 14-70 dated February 25, 2014. Brakes on vehicles produced before September 3, 2012 (calendar week 36 of 2012), squeak or squeal when used with light to moderate force. |
| A941432 2017806- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BACK UP LIGHTS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 13-19 dated May 23, 2013. The light bulb warning light is displayed in the instrument cluster with the ?Vehicle lights: malfunction? message. DTCs are stored in the vehicle electrical system control module. Exterior lights are functioning properly. If the headlight switch is moved to an intermediate position and remains there, the light bulb warning light and the error message appear after approximately ten seconds. Once displayed, the message turns off after approximately five seconds. The light bulb warning light turns off only after the headlight switch is turned to a defined position, and the status of DTC 03280 or DTC 01800 are changed to sporadic. After 40 driving cycles without an implausible signal detected, the DTCs are automatically cleared. |
| A911424 2020399- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 09-30 dated April 14, 2009. The Audi MMI system will not play audio files from an SD card. The MMI system does not recognize the audio files on the SD card. The MMI system reports that the audio files on the SD card are damaged. The audio files on the SD card will play on one Audi vehicle, but will not play on a different Audi vehicle. |
| A911419 2026895- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-16 dated October 5, 2011. | A571499 2029151- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 13-87 dated March 27, 2013. The door cannot be opened from outside with the outer door handle, but it can be opened with the inner handle. The complaint is often described as follows: The customer locks the vehicle and checks by pulling the door handle whether the vehicle is locked. When opening the vehicle again, the door cannot be opened. It feels as if the handle is slack. When fitting the Bowden cable from the mounting bar to the door lock, the cable can get kinked. In some cases, this can increase the inner friction of the strand in the Bowden cable. As a result, the door lock stays in pressed position or does not completely return to its zero position. When the Bowden cable gets twisted during the installation, the rubber grommets can get distorted. Consequently, the Bowden cable has a too-high inner friction and the door lock does not move to the zero position. |
| A571400 2027353- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 11-52 dated August 17, 2011. The exterior door handle touch sensors (Audi advanced key) are inoperative on one or several doors. The key blade can be used to lock or unlock the vehicle mechanically, and the key remote buttons can be used to lock or unlock the vehicle electronically. DTCs may be stored in the access and start authorization control module. |
| A481457 2034351- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. STEERING; WHEELS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 13-47 dated August 2, 2013. Customer may report hearing creaking or squeaking noise from the steering column when steering slowly (the noise can be duplicated while the vehicle is stationary if the steering wheel is turned slowly). The noise may get louder at higher temperatures or when the vehicle is driven for a longer period of time. The noise comes from the sealing sleeve/steering column opening on the bulkhead. Listen to the attached audio file for example of the noise. Insufficient lubrication of the intermediate steering shaft in the area of the sealing sleeve. |
| A461466 2022584- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. STEERING; WHEELS; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 12-23 dated June 18, 2012. Customer may report that the steering wheel vibrates or pulsates when the brakes are applied. Document contains the brake pulsation diagnostic guidelines. |
| A011463 2033630- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 13-86 dated April 15, 2013. The MIL is on. There is a rough idle. DTCs are stored in the ECM. Engine may have reduced performance without significant loss of power or stalling. Because there are a number of different misfire faults (unrelated to ignition coil operation) that could cause the MIL to illuminate, proper Guided Fault Finding (GFF) misfire diagnosis must be followed before any ignition coils are replaced. |
| Reference-Oil Ca | 2017-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. This document contains the Audi oil capacity chart. |
| A871346 2035582- | 2017-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The A/C Compressor has been diagnosed as faulty and will be replaced under warranty. | Dealer Letter-Up | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION; ENGINE. This communication is to inform you of upcoming Update 28G6. There are 79,232 Audi vehicles affected in the U.S. by this Update. Rough idle or reduced driving power and, in turn, an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. Inspect and replace ignition coils as required. |
| A911314 2013790- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-25 dated November 29, 2011. The navigation DVD or other CD/DVD cannot be ejected. There are no DTCs stored in the corresponding module. The eject button is not stuck. When the eject button is pushed, the drive does not sound as if it is trying to eject the CD/DVD. Vehicles with DVD-based navigation systems now have the navigation DVD installed during production. To prevent theft of the DVD during transportation, the eject button of the navigation drive is disabled. The navigation system itself (e.g., route guidance) functions as specified. The eject buttons of vehicles without DVD-based navigation systems are not disabled during production, but could behave as described in the Condition section of this bulletin. The eject button can be enabled through Guided Fault Finding. |
| A901342 2035902- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION. "Ignition lock faulty" message is displayed in the driver information display with the symbol shown at right. DTCs are stored in the comfort system central control unit. The "ignition lock faulty" message can be triggered by many different DTC entries. Presence of the message does not indicate that the ignition switch is faulty; the message typically has a different root cause. Replacing the ignition switch before completing GFF test plans typically does not correct the condition. |
| A701335 2022773- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 12-70 dated September 5, 2012. Vibration noises from the doors or the rear parcel shelf are heard, particularly when heavy bass audio is playing. Components on the doors or the parcel shelf vibrate while heavy bass audio is played. |
| A461362 2033674- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 13-51 dated July 30, 2013. Brakes on vehicles produced before September 3, 2012 (calendar week 36 of 2012), squeak or squeal when used with light to moderate force. |

| A281322 2028419- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM; STEERING:COLUMN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-28 dated January 27, 2012. DTC is present in the access start authorization control unit, J393 (address word 05), and cannot be cleared. The original electronic steering column lock control unit, J764, is installed. The original control unit has never been replaced. A replacement electronic steering column lock control unit, J764, has been installed. Before a replacement electronic steering column lock control unit, J764, is installed, the software of the access start authorization control unit, J393, must be updated due to a diagnostic software error that prevents the DTC from being cleared. |
| A191346 2033491- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 13-44 dated July 18, 2013. Customer may report coolant leaking from the engine area. The leak can be traced to the connection of the water pump and the hose leading to the heater core. The seal ring is not the cause of the leak. |
| Update Bulletin- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Rough idle or reduced driving power and, in turn, an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. This Update is in effect until removed. Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 28G6 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair. Vehicle must be within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin. Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale. A faulty ignition coil can result in rough idling or reduced driving power and, in turn, cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster to illuminate due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. |
| A481356 2036032- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. STEERING. The customer states that the steering feels stiff during turning. The condition occurs when the vehicle is stationary. The steering shaft needs to be updated. |
| A441346 2010334- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS/STUDS; WHEELS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 12-32 dated August 2, 2012. Wheel bolt requires torque adjustment. Torque sticks, torque extension bars, and impact guns/wrenches are not approved by Audi of America, Inc., and should not be used to apply torque to wheel bolts. Always use a calibrated torque wrench to attain the correct wheel bolt torque and follow the proper wheel tightening procedure as outlined in Elsa. Proper use of a calibrated torque wrench ensures that all wheel bolts are tightened equally and reduces the chances of repeat repairs. Using methods other than a calibrated torque wrench to attain correct wheel bolt torque may lead to problems. |
