Service bulletins for the 2009 Audi A5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A011463 2033630- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 13-86 dated April 15, 2013. The MIL is on. There is a rough idle. DTCs are stored in the ECM. Engine may have reduced performance without significant loss of power or stalling. Because there are a number of different misfire faults (unrelated to ignition coil operation) that could cause the MIL to illuminate, proper Guided Fault Finding (GFF) misfire diagnosis must be followed before any ignition coils are replaced. |

The eject button is not stuck. When the eject button is pushed, the drive does not sound as if it is trying to eject the CD/DVD. Vehicles with DVD-based navigation systems now have the navigation DVD installed during production. To prevent theft of the DVD during transportation, the eject button of the navigation drive is disabled. The navigation system itself (e.g., route guidance) functions as specified. The eject buttons of vehicles without DVD-based navigation systems are not disabled during production, but could behave as described in the Condition section of this bulletin. The eject button can be enabled through Guided Fault Finding. |
| A901342 2035902- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION. "Ignition lock faulty" message is displayed in the driver information display with the symbol shown at right. DTCs are stored in the comfort system central control unit. The "ignition lock faulty" message can be triggered by many different DTC entries. Presence of the message does not indicate that the ignition switch is faulty; the message typically has a different root cause. Replacing the ignition switch before completing GFF test plans typically does not correct the condition. |
| A701335 2022773- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 12-70 dated September 5, 2012. The original control unit has never been replaced. A replacement electronic steering column lock control unit, J764, has been installed. Before a replacement electronic steering column lock control unit, J764, is installed, the software of the access start authorization control unit, J393, must be updated due to a diagnostic software error that prevents the DTC from being cleared. |
| A191346 2033491- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 13-44 dated July 18, 2013. Customer may report coolant leaking from the engine area. Wheel bolt requires torque adjustment. Torque sticks, torque extension bars, and impact guns/wrenches are not approved by Audi of America, Inc., and should not be used to apply torque to wheel bolts. Always use a calibrated torque wrench to attain the correct wheel bolt torque and follow the proper wheel tightening procedure as outlined in Elsa. Proper use of a calibrated torque wrench ensures that all wheel bolts are tightened equally and reduces the chances of repeat repairs. Using methods other than a calibrated torque wrench to attain correct wheel bolt torque may lead to problems. |
| A401337 2035854- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; SUSPENSION. The customer reports hearing a rattling or knocking noise when the car is driven over bumps or uneven road surfaces. The noise is noticed after the car has been driven for a while and is warmed-up, and when the temperature outside is warm. The condition can be duplicated if the brakes are applied while the car is driven over bumps. High ambient temperatures at the hydraulic guide links cause the noise. |
| Customer Letter | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Audi has determined that a faulty fuel injector may cause minor misfire conditions and, in turn, cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster to illuminate due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. In our continuing efforts to assure proper performance of Audi vehicles, your dealer will diagnose and replace a faulty fuel injector, if necessary, at no cost to you as long as the vehicle remains within the time and mileage limits of this warranty extension. Please keep this letter with your Warranty booklet and deliver it to any new owner, along with the owner?s manual. |

The vibrations felt by the customer could be a result of the harmonic vibrations caused by the radial force variation (RFV) of the tires. |
| A401335 2023187- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. STEERING; WHEELS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 40 number 12-23 dated May 14, 2012. Squeaking noises are heard when the steering wheel is turned or maneuvered. The noises may be more prevalent in wet weather. The folds of the outer rubber boots on the front axle shafts may come in contact with each other when the steering wheel is turned, causing squeaking noises. These noises are more likely to occur when the vehicle is new. The volume and occurrence of the noise will dissipate after a short break-in period. |
| A401334 2018194- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 40 number 10-04 dated April 1, 2010. Oil appears on one or several shock absorbers. As a result of residue from when the shock was filled during production, or of slight condensation in the seal area. This small amount of oil is for lubrication and it reduces wear on the seal. |
| A101310 2018288- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 10 number 10-02 dated September 14, 2010. Prior to engine replacement, any debris lodged in transferred assemblies must be removed. If the vehicle's engine experienced a serious mechanical problem, it is possible that small pieces of metal debris resulting from the mechanical problem may have become deposited in the intake manifold, air intake hoses, exhaust manifolds, exhaust down-pipes, turbocharger, supercharger, and/or intercooler. If these pieces are not removed prior to the installation and operation of the replacement engine, the pieces may be drawn into the combustion chamber, which can cause a knocking noise and subsequent serious engine damage. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
