Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this bulletin can be performed.

A901451 2021151-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-63 dated October 4, 2012. The customer may report flickering of the dash insert lighting, of the A/C control panel lighting, or of the inside light. The condition occurs when the accelerator is pressed while the vehicle is in P or N, or when the vehicle is shifted down when moving downhill. Only vehicles with PR number 8GH may be affected. When high electricity consumers are switched off when the battery is fully charged, the energy generated by the alternator is sometimes too great for the power system to absorb. This may lead to briefly-increased voltage, causing the lights to flicker.
A441456 2022563-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 14-50 dated May 14, 2014. A011491 2028842-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Customer vehicle is fitted with unauthorized ECM tuning. All systems on Audi vehicles are engineered to work together using the factory calibrations, which have been extensively tested and validated before the vehicle is released for sale. The Audi warranty coverage is based on the results of developing the vehicle under the factory calibration. If a vehicle is equipped with unauthorized hardware or software tuning, it can cause stress on vehicle components outside of intended design limits, and can cause damage and additional wear. Subsequently, factory powertrain warranty coverage is reduced or voided.
A911462 2038296-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). The audio CD or navigation DVD cannot be ejected from the RNS-E optical disc slot behind the navigation screen. The adaptation for enabling the eject button was either not performed at PDI or was not performed correctly (with a bus sleep immediately following the adaptation change). If ODIS OBD self-diagnosis was used, then it's possible a value of "1" was used, or if using the GFF test plan, the "CD/DVD Ejecting" option was incorrectly chosen. Setting the adaption to "1" or choosing the "CD/DVD Ejecting" option, is a one-time eject option that allows the ODIS tester to only eject the CD/DVD. This option does not permanently change the adaptation value and as a result the eject button remains disabled.
A911463 2028190-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. When a song is being played and the track information for that song contains foreign language characters, the driver information system (DIS) in the cluster correctly displays the characters, but the MMI display does not.
