Service bulletin TSB 23-2308
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Some 2020-2023 Escape and 2021-2023 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit a moan noise when the vehicle is driven in reverse (R) in cold weather and/or high humidity. This may be due to the suspension sensitivity of the vehicle. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the standard and reinforced rear caliper bushings and apply Kluberpaste to the machined surfaces of the brake caliper and caliper support bracket.

| TSB 23-2275 | 2023-09-01. Service bulletin. Some 2023 Escape/Corsair vehicles built on or before 25-May-2023 equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0300 and/or P0316. This may be due to the software in the powertrain control module (PCM). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM. |
|---|---|
| SSM 51613 | 2023-05-16. Service bulletin. Some 2022-2023 Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles built on 04-Sep-2022 and through 30-Dec-2022 may exhibit the engine not restarting after an auto start/stop event with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P164C stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) may also become illuminated after the vehicle experiences a second event before it can be brought in for service. This may be due to an internal issue with the PCM. To correct the condition, check the battery condition and state of charge, then replace the PCM and re-evaluate the concern. For claiming, use causal part 12A650 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If the concern persists, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 303-14B and perform Pinpoint Test AA for normal diagnostics. |
| SSM 51537 | 2023-05-04. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P025A, P025B, P00C6, P008A, P0627 and/or U0109 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to an intermittent or partial disconnect of the harness, connector pin push-outs or loose/corroded grounds to the fuel pump control module (FPCM) connector, PCM connector and/or battery junction box connector. Inspect the following connectors for 1.5L and 2.0L engines: C1551B, C1035A, C110, C401, C4033, C4330. Verify the connections are fully seated, without damage and/or pushed out pins/terminals prior to performing Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics or replacing any components. Inspect G404 and verify it's clean and secure. If any connector damage is found, repair as necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Cell 005. |
| TSB 22-2169 | 2022-05-12. Service bulletin. Some Escape 2020-2022 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and 2021-2022 Corsair PHEV may exhibit a 12-volt battery discharged while the vehicle is plugged in during the high voltage battery charging and/or inoperative level 2 charger (220/240 volts) at customers residence but charging performance operates as intended at a dealership or other locations. This may be due to the software in the battery charger control module (BCCM) (also known as secondary on-board diagnostic module (SOBDM)) and/or differences in local electrical power grids for the level 2 charger. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules starting with the powertrain control module (PCM). |
| TSB 22-2147 | 2022-04-26. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2021 Escape and 2021 Corsair vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) or 2.5L plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain may exhibit a no crank/no start condition due to the passive anti-theft system (PATS) immobilizer being enabled. This may be more prevalent after a vehicle service/repair. This may be due to software that renders the inverter system controller (ISC) (also known as secondary on-board diagnostic module C (SOBDMC)) inoperable when a vehicle repair requires a PATS update. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules starting with the powertrain control module (PCM). |
| SSM 50548 | 2022-03-08. Service bulletin. Some 2022 Maverick and 2020-2022 Escape vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may exhibit an idle surge and/or rough idle with high temperature in the catalytic convertor and sulfur odor in the cab. This may be due to the software installed in the powertrain control module (PCM). This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently developing a software update that is expected in the last week of March 2022. Once the software update is available, contact the customer and schedule a follow-up appointment for repair. Monitor OASIS for updates. |
| 21B68 | 2022-01-03. Service bulletin. Certain 2020-2021 Model Year Escape 2.5L HEV PHEV Vehicles Reprogram Powertrain Control Module (PCM) In some of the affected vehicles, it may be possible that the TMAP (Temperature Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor may ice over while driving in cold temperatures for extended periods of time. An iced over TMAP sensor may cause the check engine light to illuminate with diagnostic codes P1A0C, P2282, or P0106 in the PCM (powertrain control module). These codes may lead to the PCM disabling the engine and a Stop Safely Now message appearing in the instrument cluster |
| SSM 49821 | 2021-06-01. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. For claiming, use causal part 6M280 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| TSB 20-2366 | 2020-11-05. Service bulletin. Some 2020 Escape front-wheel drive (FWD) vehicles equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine and an 8F24 transmission built on 09-Jun-2020 and through 02-Oct-2020 may exhibit a harsh engagement into DRIVE and/or harsh 6-5 or 4-3 downshifts. This may be due to various strategies within the powertrain control module (PCM) software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM. |
