Service bulletin 18-073-16

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Flash: 3.6L Powertrain Diagnostic And System Enhancements. This bulletin involves reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with the latest available software. A small number of customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the technician may find the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) set in the PCM memory: · P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit. · P0456 - EVAP System Small Leak. · P2610 - PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance. In addition to the above DTCs, this software release also includes: · Enhancements to the disable misfire monitor when P0335 is present. · Add a global disable to small leak monitor when the fuel level is above 88%. · Update small leak diagnostic to require 5 minutes of engine runtime and 120 minutes of engine off time. · Updates to prevent false failure due to wrong ambient temperature reading.

For any other MY (with mileage above 30,000) review and follow instructions from STAR Online S1809000007 REV. C available on Dealer Connect. Also, consider the following: 1) Remove OFA 2) Replace only the oil inlet O-ring and gaskets (seals kit in SOL above). 3) Re-install the OFA. For 2023MY and beyond use black O-ring. For 2022MY and prior use red O-ring. Note: When replacing OFA, it may be necessary to transfer the Oil Temp/Pressure Sensor from the old OFA to the new OFA.

21039172022-10-24. Service bulletin. Flash: Transmission Diagnostic and Shift Enhancements This bulletin involves reprogramming the Transmission Control Module (TCM) with the latest available software. Customers may experience a less than desirable down shift during one or more of the following:3-2 coast-down shift. 2-1 coast-down shift. 6-5 coast-down shift. The following software enhancement is available for(6.4L Only):Reduce bumps felt on light to medium decel braking while coming to a stop. Bump could be described as a push, driveline clunk, or engine flare noise right after the 5-4 downshift. The vehicle speed may vary based on the rate of deceleration.
18075172022-10-24. Service bulletin. Flash: Powertrain Diagnostic and System Improvements This bulletin involves reprogramming of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with the latest software. Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the technician may find that the following DTCs: P000B - Bank 1 Camshaft 2 Position Slow Response. P0016 - Crankshaft/Camshaft Timing Misalignment - Bank 1 Sensor 1. P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit. P0339 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Intermittent. P0441 - EVAP Purge System Performance. P0455 - EVAP System Large Leak. P2610 - PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance. P0456 - EVAP System Small Leak. P2299 - Brake Pedal Position/Accelerator Pedal Position Incompatible. Customers may also notice the following condition(s): Brief engine idle fluctuation while in hot ambient temperatures. A slight hesitation during light pedal application after engine cold start. Driveline noises. Engine stumble/hesitation on a very hard pedal acceleration from a dead stop. Transmission enhancements during low-speed braking turning maneuvers. False detonation (spark knock) detected during a wide-open throttle (LA Challenger Sales Codes ESH with DEC only). In addition, the following software enhancements are available: Reduce bumps felt on light to medium decal braking and coming to a stop. Launch spark improvement change from 35 MPH to 10 MPH. Reverse lock out speed change from 10 MPH to 3 MPH (Sales Code DEC only). Torque security calibration changes to desensitize brake throttle override entry conditions. Calibration changes to address engine speed undershoot/overshoot during clutch disengagement when coming to a stop (Sales Code DEC only). Start fuel and transient fuel calibration change for improved drivability robustness. Purge calibration changes for a more robust purge volume result at altitude. Individual Cylinder Fuel Control (ICFC) calibration changes for improved fueling offset accuracy.
90034182022-10-24. Service bulletin. Rotor - Front 2 Piece For LA, LD SRT vehicles with the 2-piece Front Rotor (BR7 sales code), do NOT replace the rotor for a clicking noise occurring while turning at low parking lot speeds. Instead, remove front wheels and rotors and clean mating surfaces (wheel mounting face, rotor mounting faces (both sides), and hub mounting face) with a Scotch Brite Pad or equivalent, and reassemble. When installing wheel, MUST use clicker/torque wrench, set to 110 ft-lb (150 Nm).
90037562022-10-24. Service bulletin. Rain light sensor Rain sense wipers do not operate: 1. Visual Inspection--> Check if the sensor is visually OK. (all the pins are OK) Check that the Connector is NOT loose (Sensor must get a voltage from 9V to 16V) 2. Functional Checks Rain--> Steering column switch is in auto mode (sensor is active) it is necessary to splash water on the sensitive surface of the sensor to trigger wipes. check the same for different sensitivities When the rain sensitivity is increased (for example from level 0 to level 1), as an acknowledgement a single wipe is seen. (This is not a phantom wipe) and this single wipe is not seen when the rain sensitivity is decreased (from higher level to lower level) Light--> Steering column switch is in auto mode (sensor is active) block the light coming on the sensor from outside of the vehicle (use a opaque object), the head lamps should be activated 3. If the sensor seems functional, it is ideal to remove the silicon gel pad from the sensor, replace it with the new silicon gel pad instead of replacing the whole sensor. When servicing the LRSM please replace the silicon gel pad with a new silicon gel pad (PN 68224945AA) instead of replacing the whole sensor.
90037042022-09-26. Service bulletin. Transmission Oil Pan, Heater (TMU), Tube or O-ring Applies to vehicles equipped with 8 speed transmissions only; if you have a leak that appears to be at the pan the use of proper leak detection is recommended. The fluid in the 8 speeds can be detected with a black light and there are aftermarket spray on leak detection materials to help ensure that the leak is properly diagnosed and not from another location such as cooler lines, heater tubes, or case porosity. Please note that the transmission pan gasket is available for many of the 8 speed applications FCA offers. Please review the available quick connect and transfer tube parts, as replacement of the TMU may not be required. If a TOC line connection is found to be the source, the quick connect may need replacement. If the leak source is coming from the connection of the TMU to the transmission, the transfer tube may need replacement. When parts are returned to the QEC the retaining clips (snap ring) for the quick disconnect fittings are missing. (This leaves a question as to whether the clips were missing from the assembly plant, or the technician removed them in order to make line removal easier.) Please return the clips with the transmission heater and note if they were not there to begin with. For any questions regarding transmission heater, contact FCA Redacted Content. If no response in 15 minutes, proceed with repair.
