Service bulletin TSB 21-2232
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Some 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with a heated steering wheel and built on or before 14-Jun-2021 may experience the heated steering wheel turning off within 10 minutes after being manually enabled and/or the heated steering wheel not being enabled after a remote start event. This may be due to various software parameters in the steering column control module (SCCM). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reconfigure and reprogram the SCCM.

| SSM 54820 | 2026-05-18. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U023A:08 in the steering column control module (SCCM) after reprogramming the SCCM with no customer symptoms present. If the vehicles automatic high beam operation is fully functional, this DTC does not affect vehicle operation, and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition. Replacement or reprogramming of the SCCM or image processing module A (IPMA) will not resolve this condition. To validate that the automatic high beam system is fully operational, cover the light sensor located in the middle of the dashboard to activate the automatic low beam headlamps. Push the steering wheel multifunction switch forward to cycle through both high beam settings which will be represented in the instrument cluster panel (IPC) as a white telltale (automatic mode - the high beams will not turn on while testing) and a blue telltale (manual mode - the high beams will turn on). If any of the telltales did not illuminate when the steering wheel multifunction switch is pressed forward, refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM) |

| SU6 P2 F150 | 2023-11-03. Service bulletin. Software Update SU6 P2 for 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles is now available. Quality Improvements include: -Robustness actions to improve steering column control module signal management to reduce battery drain contribution. - Improvement in automatic rain sensor function. |
| SSM 51894 | 2023-09-04. Service bulletin. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a lack of steering assist upon start-up along with a Steering Assist Fault message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with DTC U3001:68 and/or U3001:89 along with U3000:96 in the power steering control module (PSCM). This may be due to low battery voltage when attempting to start the vehicle. Power steering assist will be restored when battery voltage is at or above 12 volts and the DTCs are cleared. Replacement of the PSCM is not necessary. Flash the PSCM to the latest software level and clear the DTCs afterwards. Once cleared, cycle the ignition to verify normal system operation. If the DTCs return, refer to Workshop Manual Section 211-02 for normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 3504 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 51226 | 2023-01-05. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may experience a lack of steering assist upon start-up along with a Steering Assist Fault message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U3001:89 and U3000:96 in the power steering control module (PSCM). This may be due to low voltage at the PSCM. Power steering assist will be restored when sufficient voltage is supplied. To clear the DTCs using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS), select and run the PSCM - Reset the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) application. Once cleared, cycle the ignition to verify normal system operation. If the DTCs return, refer to Workshop Manual Section 211-02 for normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 3504. |
| SSM 50691 | 2022-04-20. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E and F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message after module programming has been completed. This may be due to a network interruption from programming or configuring modules, which can cause steering center find to be reset. When the steering center find is reset, this causes various features to become disabled. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle approximately 5 minutes above 18 mph (30 km/h) straight ahead on a flat surface with no steering inputs for a few seconds. When steering center is found the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message will go away. |
| SSM 50484 | 2022-02-16. Service bulletin. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles built on or before 17-Mar-2021 may experience a lack of steering assist upon start-up along with a Steering Assist Fault message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U3000:96 and U3001:68 in the power steering control module (PSCM). This may be due to battery voltage below 8 volts when attempting to start the vehicle. Power steering assist will be restored when battery voltage is at or above 12 volts and the DTCs are cleared. Replacement of the PSCM is not necessary. To clear the DTCs using the FDRS, select and run the PSCM - Reset the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) application. Once cleared, cycle the ignition to verify normal system operation. If the DTCs return, refer to Workshop Manual Section 211-02 for normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 3504. |
| SSM 49738 | 2021-05-03. Service bulletin. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message after module programming has been completed. This may be due to a network interruption from programming or configuring modules, which can cause steering center find to be reset. When the steering center find is reset, this causes various features to become disabled. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle above 10 mph (16 km/h) for over 10 minutes. |
| SSM 49530 | 2021-03-03. Service bulletin.
