Service bulletin 16B11

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 523352024-03-20. Service bulletin. For 2015-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.
SSM 498212021-06-01. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. For claiming, use causal part 6M280 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 492102020-10-06. Service bulletin. Some 2009-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbochargers may exhibit an oil leak from the turbocharger oil supply or return tubes, O-rings or 6.7L pedestal gasket. Although oil may collect on the turbocharger, it is very rare for a turbocharger to leak oil. To isolate the source of the leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 General Information > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine > Engine Oil Leaks - Fluorescent Oil Additive Method procedure. When an oil leak is present at a turbocharger oil supply or drain tube, remove the affected oil tube and inspect for damage, and replace the O-ring seals, pedestal gasket or oil tube as required. Refer to WSM, Section 303-04. For claiming, use the affected oil tube or pedestal gasket as the causal part and applicable labor operations in Sections 6 and 9 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
TSB 19-21162019-05-06. Service bulletin. Some 2016-2019 Fiesta vehicles built on or before 19-Feb-2019 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0128 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to some PCM software parameters related to engine temperature. To resolve the condition, reprogram the PCM.
SSM 475872018-11-19. Service bulletin. 2014-2017 Fiesta, 2015-2018 Focus, 2018-2019 Ecosport vehicles equipped with a 1.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit coolant consumption, white smoke and/or a runs rough condition. Refer to the extended coolant pressure test in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03. If no external coolant loss is confirmed, further investigation of the integrated exhaust manifold (IEM) interface is required. Carefully inspect the manifold port area for cracks. If a crack is found, follow the cost cap tool for component replacement. Follow WSM, Section 303-01 for the repair procedures
tsb18-21852018-09-10. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 18-2024 to update the model years. Some 2011-2018 Fiesta vehicles may exhibit a lack of heat resulting from a frozen blower motor. This may be caused by snow entering through the cowl panel grille and screen assemblies. Snow may melt in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) case allowing water to enter the blower motor and freeze during a below freezing overnight soak. Blower motor fuse F4 in the battery junction box (BJB) may also be open and the cabin air filter may be saturated. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
TSB18-20242018-06-11. Service bulletin. Some 2011-2017 Fiesta vehicles may exhibit a lack of heat resulting from a frozen blower motor. This may be caused by snow entering through the cowl panel grille and prior screen assemblies. Snow may melt in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) case allowing water to enter the blower motor and freeze during a below freezing overnight soak. The blower motor fuse at location F4 in the power distribution box may also be open and the cabin air filter may be water saturated. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 460852017-08-01. Service bulletin. The Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle bodies (ETBs). The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
SSM 460482017-08-01. Service bulletin. Some 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may have DTCs U3000:04, B108E:12 and/or U1A00:87 present in the APIM. If these DTCs are present and no other symptoms are reported by the customer, then clear the DTCs and retest. If the DTC(s) do not return then no further repairs should be attempted. If one or more DTCs return as current faults and/or the customer reports other symptoms, then refer to Workshop Manual, Section 415-00 for further diagnostics. The SYNC version can be confirmed via OASIS.
