Service bulletin SSM 49284
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Some 2018-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with TCU and WiFi Hotspot, May display Vehicle Hotspot feature not enabled on this vehicle when attempting to enter the Hotspot menu. When using the FordPass/Lincoln Way application, the customer may receive a message saying Wi-Fi has been disabled from this vehicle. Check the vehicle specifications or vehicle build information for the mfal code. If mfal = WAFAC or WAFAB do not replace the TCU, engineering is currently investigating this condition. Inform customers Ford is developing a software fix that is expected in early January. In the interim, let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment with the customer for early January. Once the update becomes available, contact the customer and confirm the service appointment is going forward. Monitor OASIS for updates.

| SSM 52076 | 2023-11-21. Service bulletin. Some 2019-2021 Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with all wheel drive (AWD) may exhibit a noise from the rear of the vehicle while approaching the vehicle or prior to starting engine. This may be due to the rear drive unit (RDU) actuator learning process. Reprogram the software in the AWD module to minimize the noise using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. If no other concerns or symptoms are present, further diagnosis or repairs are not recommended. For claiming, use causal part 4000 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |

| TSB 23-2307 | 2023-11-02. Service bulletin. Some 2019-2020 Edge/F-150/Fusion/Continental/MKZ/Nautilus, 2019-2021 Mustang/Ranger/Transit Connect, 2020-2021 EcoSport/Escape/Expedition/Explorer/F-Super Duty/Aviator/Corsair/Navigator, 2021 Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Explorer/Aviator vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience various SYNC performance related concerns. This may be due to the SYNC Software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the SYNC module (APIM) software. |
| SSM 50974 | 2022-08-02. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2022 Escape/Corsair/F-53 Motorhome/F-59 Commercial Stripped Chassis, 2021-2023 F-650/F-750/E-Series, and 2021-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit a communication fault with emissions inspection equipment. This may be due to the software in the gateway module (GWM). To correct this condition, reprogram the GWM to latest software level using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Use causal part 14F642 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| TSB 22-2225 | 2022-06-13. Service bulletin. Some 2019-2020 Edge/F-150/Fusion/Continental/MKZ/Nautilus, 2019-2021 Mustang/Ranger/Transit Connect, 2020-2021 EcoSport/Escape/Expedition/Explorer/F-Super Duty/Aviator/Corsair/Navigator, 2021 Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Explorer/Aviator vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience various SYNC performance related concerns. This may be due to the SYNC Software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software. |
| TSB 22-2147 | 2022-04-26. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2021 Escape and 2021 Corsair vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) or 2.5L plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain may exhibit a no crank/no start condition due to the passive anti-theft system (PATS) immobilizer being enabled. This may be more prevalent after a vehicle service/repair. This may be due to software that renders the inverter system controller (ISC) (also known as secondary on-board diagnostic module C (SOBDMC)) inoperable when a vehicle repair requires a PATS update. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules starting with the powertrain control module (PCM). |
| SSM 50555 | 2022-03-08. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2021 Mustang GT500 vehicles may experience erratic and harsh shifting at highway speeds and/or reduced speed when accelerating from a stop, with a powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator and DTCs P1601/P061A while using SelectShift. This may be due to powertrain control module (PCM) calibration. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle but not to use SelectShift. Engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in April 2022. Replacement or reprogramming of the PCM will not resolve this condition at this time. Schedule a follow-up appointment for repair in April 2022. Once the update becomes available, contact the customer and confirm the service appointment. Monitor OASIS for updates. |
| SSM 50548 | 2022-03-08. Service bulletin. Some 2022 Maverick and 2020-2022 Escape vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may exhibit an idle surge and/or rough idle with high temperature in the catalytic convertor and sulfur odor in the cab. This may be due to the software installed in the powertrain control module (PCM). This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently developing a software update that is expected in the last week of March 2022. Once the software update is available, contact the customer and schedule a follow-up appointment for repair. Monitor OASIS for updates. |
| TSB 22-2078 | 2022-03-08. Service bulletin. Some 20202022 Escape/Aviator plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and 20212022 Corsair PHEV vehicles may exhibit a FordPass or LincolnWay App message notification indicating deep sleep mode and connectivity is temporarily unavailable while the vehicle is plugged in during high voltage battery charging. The vehicle may also exhibit an inoperative remote start feature and/or lock and unlock functionality. This may be due to the software in the telematics control unit (TCU). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the TCU. |
| SSM 50394 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. Some 2019-2020 Edge/Nautilus vehicles built on or before 03-Dec-2020 may exhibit a power liftgate unable to unlatch from both switches after a second unlatch attempt with or without diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3000:49 stored in the rear gate trunk module (RGTM). If the RGTM is at the latest software level and the condition is still present, refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 501-03 to perform normal diagnosis. |
| SSM 50388 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty/Explorer/Aviator and 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Front Camera Fault, Lane Keeping Fault, and/or Collison Warning Not Available message with various diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored in the image processing module A (IPMA). If programming fails or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) states a file failed to flash after replacing the IPMA or reprogramming IPMA software, test the battery using any approved Rotunda tool including the GR-190, GRX-3590, and DCA-8000. Fully recharge or replace the battery according to results of the tool. Set the battery charger to maintain battery voltage between 12.6 and 13.6 volts during the entire programming procedure. The IPMA programming procedure may take several hours to complete due to the size of the software files required. |
