Tech Tips (A/C Shuts Off with ?Compressor Off? Code 12 When Coming to a Stop): This document informs when diagnosing a customer concern of A/C shutting off, with ?compressor off? code 12 when coming to or at a stop, be aware that the ECM strategy is to shut off the A/C compressor to reduce engine load and increase engine vacuum during braking, particularly during the catalyst warm-up phase. A compressor off code of 12 does not necessarily indicate a vehicle concern.
