Service bulletin TSB 16-0156
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
SOME 2017 MKC VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A BUZZ/RATTLE NOISE FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DEFROST VENT TRIM PANEL. THIS IS DUE TO THE DEFROST VENT TRIM PANEL CONTACTING BARE METAL ON TOP OF THE COWL CLOSE TO THE WINDSHIELD. FOLLOW THE TSB SERVICE PROCEDURE STEPS TO CORRECT THE CONDITION.

| SSM 48135 | 2019-09-09. Service bulletin. Some 2013-2020 vehicles equipped with an EVDC air conditioning (A/C) compressor may exhibit poor A/C performance/improper climate function. To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC control valve tester has been provided to each U.S. dealership (339-EVDC100). Ensure the A/C system has a full charge prior to any compressor diagnostics. To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC compressor tool must be used, and the results recorded in the Technician comments field with the warranty claim. This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions. |

| SSM 48130 | 2019-09-06. Service bulletin. Some 2010-2020 vehicles may exhibit distorted glass with a subtle orange peel pattern or streaking etched into the surface. This is caused by hydrofluoric acid which is used in some car wash solutions as a cleaning agent. Hydrofluoric acid can attack the glass and cause visual distortion and/or discoloration on the outer surface which cannot be removed by further cleaning. If this type of distortion is found, inspect the area of the glass that is covered by the cowl and/or molding. The portion of glass that is covered by the cowl or molding will not be affected by the acid. Hydrofluoric acid damage is not a defect in material or workmanship and is not a warrantable condition. |
| SSM 47996 | 2019-06-07. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2019 MKC vehicles built on or before 01-Apr-2019 may exhibit an air conditioning (A/C) system with a difference in the discharge temperature between the left and right vents. The left vent discharge temperature will usually be warmer than the right vent discharge temperature. Reprogram the front controls interface module (FCIM) using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 18842 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 47967 | 2019-06-06. Service bulletin. Some 2013-2019 vehicles equipped with a EVDC air conditioning (A/C) compressor may exhibit poor A/C performance/improper climate function and/or a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P06A0 in the powertrain control module (PCM). To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC control valve tester has been developed and is available from Rotunda (339-EVDC100). A tester has been provided to each U.S. dealership free of charge with shipments completed 19-Apr-2019 (reference EFC07013 on FMCDealer.com). This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Make sure that this tester is used for warranty repairs and document the test results in the Technician Comments field. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions. |
| SSM 47850 | 2019-05-07. Service bulletin. | TSB 19-2037 | 2019-04-02. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2019 MKC vehicles equipped with memory mirrors built on or before 16-Feb-2019 may experience a ratcheting/clicking noise from the exterior mirror(s) glass which can occur when one or more of the following actions occur: customer unlocks vehicle, memory mirrors glass position recall to previous setting or memory mirrors button activation. |
| SSM 47678 | 2019-01-07. Service bulletin. 2013-2019 Escape and 2015-2019 MKC vehicles equipped with a power roof opening panel will exhibit a small vent opening position of 5 mm (.197 in). This is the normal vent position for optimal noise, vibration, harshness (NVH) and windnoise qualities. When the vent is closed, the front sliding glass panel will open to the 10 mm (.394 in) position and then close. The front sliding glass panel also opens to the 10 mm (.394 in) position to give the front sliding glass panel enough clearance before it opens to the rearward position. This is a normal operating characteristic of the front sliding glass panel. No repairs are required. |
| SSM 47539 | 2018-12-03. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2019 MKC vehicles may exhibit a whistle and/or wind noise at highway speed from the exterior mirror area. Use Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04 and 501-00 for diagnosis of whistle and/or wind noise. If the exterior mirror(s) are identified as the source of the noise verify the distance between the exterior mirror base and the mirror cover before attempting other repairs. A minimum measurement of 1mm (0.0393 in) should be present between the exterior mirror base and the mirror cover. Refer to WSM, Section 501-09 for information on measuring and adjusting the distance between the exterior mirror base and mirror cover. If a minimum measurement of 1mm (0.0393 in) is not maintained between the exterior mirror base and the mirror cover when the exterior mirror(s) are serviced it may create a whistle and/or wind noise concern. |
| SSM 47335 | 2018-07-23. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2018 Escape and 2017-2019 MKC vehicles may exhibit a lack of A/C cooling performance during PDI. This may be due to a insufficient/low refrigerant charge. If a vehicle displays a lack of cooling performance during PDI, inspect for a leak. Refer to the diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00 for A/C leak detection. Many times when the system is only evacuated and refilled to the proper level at PDI the customer will return for a lack of cooling performance concern. A refrigerant leak will usually be identified as the root cause. |
| SSM 46792 | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2018 MKC vehicles equipped with a AC power outlet socket may exhibit a condition with the assembly door becoming disconnected, jammed or locked closed. If the door is disconnected, re-install the end cap and door. Refer to updated Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-05 for correct door/spring position installation. If door is jammed or locked closed, this may be due to the door spring not being properly positioned when the door is installed. Do not try to force the door open as this may cause damage to the door or interfacing components. Remove the floor console rear end cap and dislodge the door by pushing it from the back side of the end cap. Reinstall the end cap and door. Refer to updated WSM, Section 414-05 for the correct door/spring position installation. |
