If the motor separates, power steering assist may be reduced or lost, and the driver may experience an unexpected increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. Replace the bolts that attach the electric power steering motor to the steering gear and add a protective wax coating to each bolt and the seam around the electric power steering motor. Vehicles that have been serviced for an electric power steering (EPS) motor condition, may have had the motor installed/reinstalled with the incorrect fastener torque, resulting in insufficient clamp load. Dealers are to tighten the fasteners to the revised specification, to achieve the specified torque.
172352019-04-22. Service bulletin. 17235 - Service Update. On certain vehicles the electric power steering (EPS) rack gear teeth were not properly heat treated. Dealers will replace the EPS gear.
PIT5544B2018-11-13. Service bulletin. This Preliminary information communicates information on ahydrauilc rush type noise from the power steering gear. This noise is a characteristic of the new Active Hydraulic Assist System RPO NV8 and no repairs should be made. The noise is most noticeable in the cab at idle, in park, with all accessories turned off.
