What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, there could be a problem with the driver and/or front passenger seatbelt pretensioner(s). As a result, the airbag warning light could turn on, and the seatbelt pretensioners could deploy without a crash.

Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall nos. 2024-084 and 2025-164. Vehicles that were repaired under those recalls also require this inspection or repair.

Safety Risk:

Seat belt pretensioners that don't work properly could create an increased risk of injury. Additionally, seat belt pretensioners that deploy without a crash could startle the driver and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver and front passenger seatbelt retractors.

The accelerator and brake pedals may also move when actuating certain seat adjustment switches. This may be due to incorrect software being released into the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool at the time of the previous programmable module installation (PMI). The software has since been corrected on Ford servers. To correct the condition, perform Programmable Module Installation (PMI) on the DSM using the latest software level of the FDRS scan tool. SSM 513112023-02-02. Service bulletin. Some 2018-2023 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may have a concern where the second row seat is locked in the forward tilted position while using Easy Entry preventing rearward movement. To unlock the seat, tip the seat back fully forward and slide the seat fully forward to its end of track travel. This will allow the seat to then be free to move rearward. This operation is characteristic to the Easy Entry feature of the second row seats. Do not force the seat rearward while in the locked position as it can result in damage to the seat track. Refer to the vehicle's Owner's Manual for further details.
SSM 508992022-07-06. Service bulletin. Some 2022 Navigator vehicles may experience an inoperative 2nd row multi-contour seat massager. This may be due to the child safety lock (located on the driver door window control switch) being activated. If the function is inoperative, first verify the child safety lock is not active before performing further diagnostics. For additional information, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10B Second Row Seats > Overview and/or the Rear Seat section of the Owner's Manual.
