What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, the connecting rods may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the engine could fail.

Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine.

Safety Risk:

An engine failure could cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine.

Some 2020-2026 Aviator/Explorer/F-150/Bronco/Ranger vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L (non-diesel) engine may need the front engine cover removed and reinstalled for various reasons. The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01 Engine > Removal and Installation > Engine Front Cover service procedure has been updated to include a new essential special service tool (ESST) guide pin alignment tool (303-1790) that is used to align the engine front cover to the engine block, preventing the O-ring seal on the engine oil galley feed tube from getting damaged during installation.

TSB 26-23492026-08-03. Service bulletin. This bulletin supersedes 25-2415. Reason for update: To add production build dates of the right-side engine valve cover. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit oil consumption and blue smoke from the tailpipe. This may be due to the sealing process of the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) baffle which is part of the valve cover assembly.
TSB 26-22332026-05-18. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 26-2116 to clarify the prior approval statement. Some of the vehicles listed in the model statement above may exhibit an oil leak from the oil filter adapter to engine block mounting area. This may be due to block porosity or a block crack just below the oil filter adapter near the main bearing cap outer bolt.
TSB 26-22172026-05-14. Service bulletin. This bulletin supersedes 24-2441. Reason for update: consolidation of prior bulletins and an update the Service Procedure to diagnose and replace the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor with an updated version. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model Statement above may exhibit all of the following conditions: * Illuminated power train malfunction (wrench) indicator/malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1299, P1285 and/or P2C39 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). * "Engine Over-Temperature" and/or Service Vehicle Soon warning message(s) displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) This may be due to the software in the PCM and/or the CHT sensor. Note: The vehicle's cooling fan will operate normally with no loss of engine coolant.
TSB 26-21162026-04-14. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 25-2323 to update the Service procedure, Parts list, and add a clarification note about Cost Cap and Prior approval process requirement for vehicles under NVLW. Some of the vehicles listed in the model statement above may exhibit an oil leak from the oil filter adapter to engine block mounting area. SSM 547382026-04-14. Service bulletin. Some 2023-2025 Escape 1.5L/F-Super Duty/Transit vehicles may exhibit a lack of cooling from the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, which may be accompanied by abnormal rattling, grinding and/or squealing noises from the engine compartment. This may be due to damage to the air conditioning (A/C) compressor internal components and/or clutch assembly. Confirm ambient air temperature is above approximately 0°C (32.0°F). On the HVAC controls, set the temperature to full cold (not MAX A/C), select PANEL, set the fan speed to the highest setting and select the A/C button (indicator on). If the A/C compressor clutch engages and the A/C compressor is noisy, and/or the belt is slipping on the A/C compressor pulley or the A/C compressor is seized, install a new A/C compressor as indicated in Section 412-00 of the Workshop Manual (WSM). For claiming, use causal part 19703 and labor operation MT19700SSM up to 0.3 hours to check for a damaged compressor. If the compressor requires replacement, claim labor operations 19700A and 19700A4. Also claim available Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) op
SSM 546782026-04-06. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2026 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 5.0L/5.2L engine, 2021-2025 F-Super Duty/F-53 Motorhome/F59 Commercial Stripped Chassis vehicles equipped with a 6.8L/7.3L engine and 2021-2025 E-Series/F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 7.3L engine may exhibit a rattle/scraping noise upon startup that may remain after the engine is running. Workshop Manual (WSM),
SSM 546562026-03-18. Service bulletin. Some 2025-2026 F-150 vehicles built on 01-Oct-2025 and through 15-Dec-2025 may exhibit a "Check 4x4" message with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U2002:9E stored in the all terrain control module (ATCM). This may be due to the 4L switch being stuck on due to excess material on the lower center instrument panel trim panel keeping the switch depressed. To correct the condition, replace the lower center instrument panel trim panel. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00 > Removal and Installation > Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Control Module for reference of all hidden fasteners. For claiming, use causal part 15042C74 and labor operation MT15042C74SSM up to 1.3 hours.
SSM 545932026-02-27. Service bulletin. Some 2024-2025 F-150, Expedition/Navigator, Escape/Corsair, Bronco, Explorer, Mustang, Maverick vehicles equipped with a 1.5/2.0/2.3/3.5L EcoBoost engine and built on 01-Oct-2024 and through 31-May-2025 may exhibit an extended crank condition, strong fuel smell in the engine oil, high engine oil level and/or may have various drivability diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). This may be due to an internal fuel leak of the high-pressure fuel pump causing fuel to enter the crankcase and reduce fuel pressure in the direct injection fuel rail. Diagnose this condition using Pinpoint Test HP located in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04. If no DTCs are stored in the PCM, proceed from Step HP1 to Step HP5 and continue testing. Repair as necessary outside of this article. For claiming, if high-pressure fuel pump replacement is required, use causal part number 9D376 and labor operation code 9543A. If the root cause is identified as anything other than the fuel injection pump, claim the repair outside of this article.

A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
