What is wrong

Issue:

On certain F-150 Lightning (electric) trucks, there could be a problem inside the high-voltage battery. As a result, the battery modules could overheat and short circuit.

Safety Risk:

A short circuit in the high-voltage battery can create a fire risk.

Corrective Actions:

To reduce the safety risk, Ford recommends that you set the maximum charge setting of your vehicle at 80% until the recall repairs are completed. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and replace the high-voltage battery modules, as necessary.

Some 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E, 2022-2023 E-Transit/F-150 Lightning vehicles may have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1A3C stored in the off-board charger controller module (OBCC). The P1A3C is commonly set due to an interruption of the direct current (DC) fast charging process and should be disregarded. All other DTCs stored in the OBCC are to be addressed using applicable publications and/or normal diagnostics found in Workshop Manual, Section 414-03B.
TSB 23-23172023-11-03. Service bulletin. Some 2023 F-150 fully hybrid electric vehicles (FHEVs) may exhibit an intermittent no start and Stop Safely Now message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and/or diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U0293 and/or P1A43 in the BECM or in connected vehicle data. A gateway module A (GWM) software concern may be triggering the no start condition. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the GWM software.

SSM 518222023-08-11. Service bulletin. Some 2023 F150 hybrid vehicles may exhibit an intermittent no start and Stop Safely Now message displayed in the instrument panel cluster and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) U0293 and/or P1A43 in the BECM or in connected vehicle data. A Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software concern may be triggering the no start condition. Replacement or reprogramming of the BECM or PCM is not recommended for this condition at this time. This does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that the vehicle will start after leaving it off temporarily. Engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in Q4 2023. Monitor OASIS for additional information.
TSB 22-24712023-01-05. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 21-2205 to update the vehicles and vehicle model years affected. 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles with 2.7L, 3.5L EcoBoost or 5.0L engines, 2020-2022 Transit vehicles with 3.5L EcoBoost engine having charging system diagnostics performed in the Workshop Manual (WSM) may experience the generator voltage desired (GENVDSD) parameter identification (PID) missing from the powertrain control module (PCM) PID list in the FDRS. This may be due to a software parameter in the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.
