What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, the rear engine cup plug may not have been installed properly. As a result, engine oil could leak and cause a loss of power to the wheels.

Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 3.5 L turbo engine.

Safety Risk:

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Oil that leaks onto hot components can create the risk of a fire. Additionally, an oil leak could create a hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action:

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the cup plug.

Some 2020-2026 Aviator/Explorer/F-150/Bronco/Ranger vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L (non-diesel) engine may need the front engine cover removed and reinstalled for various reasons. The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01 Engine > Removal and Installation > Engine Front Cover service procedure has been updated to include a new essential special service tool (ESST) guide pin alignment tool (303-1790) that is used to align the engine front cover to the engine block, preventing the O-ring seal on the engine oil galley feed tube from getting damaged during installation.

TSB 26-22172026-05-14. Service bulletin. This bulletin supersedes 24-2441. Reason for update: consolidation of prior bulletins and an update the Service Procedure to diagnose and replace the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor with an updated version. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model Statement above may exhibit all of the following conditions: * Illuminated power train malfunction (wrench) indicator/malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1299, P1285 and/or P2C39 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). * "Engine Over-Temperature" and/or Service Vehicle Soon warning message(s) displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) This may be due to the software in the PCM and/or the CHT sensor. Note: The vehicle's cooling fan will operate normally with no loss of engine coolant.
SSM 548032026-05-14. Service bulletin. Some 2025 Mustang Mach-E vehicles built on or before 30-Jun-2025 and 2024 F-150 Lightning vehicles may exhibit a flashing light on the air conditioning (A/C) button with a lack of heat and/or A/C with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1717:06 stored in the heat pump valve control module (HPVCM). This may be due to the software in the HPVCM. To correct the condition, reprogram the HPVCM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). If the DTC remains this may be due to the "Heat Pump Vacuum Lock Release Sequence" application performance in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). The "Heat Pump Vacuum Lock Release Sequence" application has been updated in FDRS to operate properly. For claiming, use causal part 14H266 and labor operations 12651D and 12651D4.

Some vehicles listed in the Model section above may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P2418:72 and/or P2450 stored in the PCM. This may be due to an internal fuel leak of the high-pressure fuel pump causing fuel to enter the crankcase and reduce fuel pressure in the direct injection fuel rail. Diagnose this condition using Pinpoint Test HP located in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04. If no DTCs are stored in the PCM, proceed from Step HP1 to Step HP5 and continue testing. Repair as necessary outside of this article. For claiming, if high-pressure fuel pump replacement is required, use causal part number 9D376 and labor operation code 9543A. If the root cause is identified as anything other than the fuel injection pump, claim the repair outside of this article.
