What is wrong
Issue:
On certain motorcycles, the front brake calipers may leak a small amount of brake fluid when parked. Over a long time, this could empty the fluid reservoir. If this happens, the motorcycle will have reduced brake performance. This problem may result in brake fluid on the front tire or wheel, and on the ground after the motorcycle has been parked for an extended period. The owner's manual has information for how to check the brake fluid level before riding.
Note: This recall replaces BMW recall 34 003 20 (008) (Transport Canada recall 2020-377). Motorcycles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.
Safety Risk:
Reduced front brake performance can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to inspect the front brakes. The calipers will be replaced, if necessary.

SERVICE ACTION - ABS MODULATOR MOUNTING BOLT: During assembly, an additional mounting bolt was installed on the ABS pressure modulator instead of a plastic rivet. This changes the vibration behavior of the ABS modulator. When the motorcycle is frequently used at very high engine speeds, vibration damage to the components could occur. |

| MC3200115 | 2018-12-10. Service bulletin. When the brake system is filled with fluid for the first time in the assembly plant, a float is installed in the fluid reservoir of the handbrake fitting (see Figures 1 and 2). This float is required only for the initial, vacuum-assisted filling of the system. As long as the float remains in the reservoir it is subsequently not possible to obtain a clear reading of the brake-fluid level. In order to make it easier for the fluid level to be read correctly, the float has to be removed. |
A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
