What is wrong
Certain incomplete vehicles may have been built without corrosion protection on the brake hoses located between the master cylinder and the hydraulic control unit. Premature corrosion of the hoses may cause a brake fluid leak and potentially result in a partial or complete loss of brake function, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected brake hoses.

Bulletins for the same vehicles and component
| SIL 790 | 2021-04-06. Service bulletin. It has been discovered that some hydraulic lines installed by Altec may be in contact with chassis air brake line(s). Some DOT inspections have considered this to be a violation of federal regulation 49 CFR § 393.45 b 2. Over time, chafing of the air brake line(s) could result in loss of air pressure and reduction in braking performance. Altec requires the routing of the hydraulic lines to be inspected no later than the next periodic maintenance interval. The affected unit are some T40P cable placers installed on Ford F750 chassis from May 2015 to January 2020 |

| SSM 48450 | 2020-02-04. Service bulletin. Some 2016-2019 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and an air brake system may exhibit inoperative cruise control and/or immediate transmission downshifting when releasing the accelerator pedal. This may be caused by an in range failure of the brake pedal pressure transducer (7920) that does not set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). The Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) can be used to view the WHEEL TRQ RAW PID in the generic function module (GFM). It displays the voltage value of the brake pedal pressure transducer. The voltage should be between 0.35 volts and 0.65 volts with the brakes released and will increase with brake pedal pressure. An inoperative transducer will not change with brake pedal pressure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-08 for the location of the brake pedal pressure transducer. |
| SSM 48299 | 2019-12-04. Service bulletin. Some 2016-2019 F-750 vehicles may exhibit an excessive or uneven amount (inner versus outer) of front and/or rear brake pad wear. For vehicles exhibiting this condition, it's recommended to use FC4Z-2001-F brake pad kit when replacing front or rear pads. Some vehicle applications will demonstrate improved brake pad wear after installing this kit. |
| SSM 47801 | 2019-04-08. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit concerns related to brake drag. Utilize Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics in section 206-00 to verify the correct installation of the stoplamp switch. Improper adjustment of the stoplamp switch can cause the brake pedal assembly to lightly apply the brakes resulting in dragging condition |
