What is wrong

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and 2025 Explorer hybrid police vehicles. A software error may prevent the vehicle from emitting the pedestrian warning sound at certain speeds.

What can happen

A vehicle that does not produce a warning sound may fail to alert pedestrians of an approaching vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

The audio control module and digital signal processing module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 5, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25SA2. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 10, 2025.

SSM 538632025-06-11. Service bulletin. Some 2025 Explorer/Aviator vehicles may exhibit driver assistance feature warning messages displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Additionally, some modules may store invalid data/lost communication diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). The image processing module A (IPMA) should not store these DTCs. This condition may be due to the software in the IPMA causing no communication on the network. To restore communication/function, download and run the "IPMA - Image Processing Module A (IPMA) Recovery" app in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) tool, then "Trusted Real-Time Operation Network (TRON) Module Authentication" following FDRS screen instructions. Next, download and run the "IPMA - Image Processing Module A (IPMA) Alignment" app, recheck DTCs and confirm that all warning messages are cleared from the IPC. For vehicles equipped with a 360 degree camera, perform the "360 Degree View Camera Alignment" procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-13. If these steps correct the condition, release the vehicle back to the customer.
SSM 521252023-12-11. Service bulletin. Some 2024 Nautilus vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3000:49 in the camera module-rear (CMR) when a diagnostic self-test is performed. This may be due to the system triggering a shared variable and then enters a timeout reset process. The history state DTC U3000:49 has no effect on functionality. Replacement or reprogramming of the CMR will not resolve this condition. Engineering is currently working on a solution and a software update is expected in Q2 2024. Continue to monitor OASIS for additional information.
