What is wrong

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022 F-150 vehicles. The parking lights may flicker when the headlights are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

What can happen

Flickering parking lights can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will replace the LED Driver module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22C22.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

SSM 547692026-04-28. Service bulletin. Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles utilize an advanced headlamp design that features a sharp horizontal light-to-dark transition. This is an intentional optical characteristic designed to meet safety and performance standards. This transition is a normal attribute of the vehicles lighting signature and is most visible during high-beam operation. No repair is required as the system is functioning to specification. Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01 Exterior Lighting > Description and Operation > Exterior Lighting - Overview has been revised to clarify this condition as an operating characteristic of the vehicle.

SSM 540082025-07-08. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2025 F-150 non-Lightning, 2023-2025 F-Super Duty, 2024-2025 Ranger, and 2025 Explorer vehicles may exhibit a perceived improper functioning fog lamp(s). Customers may describe fog lamps blinking, turning on or off, or flashing. If the vehicle is equipped with cornering lamps, this may be normal function. Under certain conditions and inputs, either lamp might turn on or off independently to aid visibility during cornering. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. For additional cornering lamp information, refer to the Owner's Manual and/or Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01.
SSM 520752023-11-21. Service bulletin. Some 2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an inoperative headlamp after a body control module (BCM) software update. There may also be BCM diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) B14E5:08 and/or B14E7:08 present. This may be due to a software incompatibility between the headlamp light emitting diode (LED) control module and the BCM. If this condition occurs after a BCM software update, confirm the BCM is at the latest software level and replace the headlamp LED module on the affected headlamp. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01.

TSB 23-22672023-09-01. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 Bronco Sport vehicles built on or before 01-Nov-2022 equipped with light emitting diode (LED) control module (A2C7636130500 printed onto the module label) may exhibit a condition where the daytime running lamps (DRLs) stay on for up to 10 minutes after the vehicle is turned off and/or daytime running lamps momentarily dim to park intensity when the turn signal lamp is cancelled before returning to full DRL intensity. This may be due to the software in the LED control module. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace both LED control modules and update the configuration of the body control module (BCM).
SSM 516452023-05-23. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit a condition where the low beams turn on by themselves while the vehicle is OFF for 10 or more minutes with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1533 stored in the body control module (BCM). This may be due to the internal logic within the headlamp switch. To correct this condition, replace the headlamp switch (service base PN: 11654). Refer Workshop Manual, Section 417-01.
