Canada: Transport Canada, as of 2026-10-19
20192372019-05-17. Brakes. Issue: Certain trucks were built with air reservoir tanks that are too small in relation to the size of the air brake chambers. Canadian regulations require enough air reservoir capacity to ensure the brakes work even with heavy use or when there is a partial loss of the air system. Safety Risk: Reduced braking could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facility to modify the truck to ensure it meets Canadian regulations.
20176362017-12-18. Accessories. On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Note: For more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit www.kidde.com.
20120802012-02-27. Fuel System. On certain trucks equipped with a Detroit Diesel DD13, DD15 or DD16 engine, the support system for the high pressure fuel line (between the fuel pump and the fuel delivery rail) may be damaged during a service repair procedure. Incorrect torque applied to the dampener "P" clip fasteners may damage the fasteners, which could allow the clips to loosen. This could result in a cracked fuel line and a diesel fuel leak. Diesel fuel leakage may ignite on a hot engine surface and cause a fire. As well, diesel fuel spilt on the roadway could endanger other road users by making the roadway unexpectedly slippery. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the high pressure fuel line and install a more robust fuel line support system.
20114112011-11-21. Other. On certain vehicles equipped with an MBE4000 (EPA07) engine, the intake air grid heater may short circuit and fail. This could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install an additional external relay to prevent battery connection to the grid heater when the vehicle is not running and when grid heater control signal is absent.
20113452011-09-19. Fuel System. On certain trucks, the plastic low-pressure fuel line between the engine-mounted fuel filter and the engine block may develop a diesel fuel leak. The location of the leak is unlikely to result in a vehicle fire; however, diesel fuel spilt on the roadway could endanger other road users by making the roadway unexpectedly slippery. This could ultimately result in a vehicle crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the plastic low-pressure fuel line with a steel version.
20102512010-07-26. Other. On certain vehicles equipped with an MBE900 (EPA04 and EPA07) engine, the intake air grid heater may short circuit and fail. This could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install an additional external relay to prevent battery connection to the grid heater when the vehicle is not running and when grid heater control signal is absent.
20102012010-06-14. Steering. On certain twin-steer 4900SA vehicles, the spacer used to connect the aft steer axle idler arm to the frame rail may develop cracks and eventually break under severe steering conditions. This would allow the idler arm to separate from the frame rail, resulting in diminished steering control, which could lead to a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the tubular shaped spacer bracket with a solid spacer block.
20092872009-10-05. Fuel System. On certain trucks, the plastic low-pressure fuel line may fatigue crack and leak. Diesel fuel leakage may ignite on a hot engine surface and cause a fire, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. As well, diesel fuel spilt on the roadway could endanger other road users. Correction: Dealers will replace the plastic low-pressure fuel line with a steel low-pressure line.
20092702009-09-22. Engine. On certain vehicles equipped with a Caterpillar C15 engine, the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) oil line may wear against the P-clip retaining the oil line. An oil leak could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Caterpillar dealers will replace the VVA oil line with an updated version.
20082222008-06-25. Lights And Instruments. Certain 4900EX vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. Additional marker lamps between the required identification lamps and clearance lamps on top of the cab may have been installed during vehicle assembly. These additional lamps, located on the same horizontal line near the identification lamps, may make it difficult for other drivers to distinguish large vehicles under some conditions. Correction: Dealers will remove the additional lamps.
20080782008-03-04. Fuel System. On certain trucks, the high-pressure fuel line at each injector may fatigue and fracture if a fastener at the end of the line is not properly connected. This would allow high pressure atomized diesel fuel to enter the engine compartment, creating a risk of fire, which could result in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs.
20073842007-12-03. Brakes. On certain trucks, the rear brake slack adjusters may fail, reducing brake effectiveness. Extended stopping distance could cause a crash resulting in property damage and/or personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the slack adjusters.
20073592007-11-07. Other. On certain trucks, the fifth wheel hitch assembly's lever arm may have been incorrectly installed during the manufacturing process. The lever arm pivot bolt may have been over-tightened which could distort the pivot bolt spacer sleeve and prevent the fifth wheel latch jaw from closing and latching securely around the trailer king pin. This could allow the towed unit to separate from the towing vehicle while underway, potentially causing a crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the pivot bolt and sleeve with a hex head shoulder bolt and washer.
20072512007-07-24. Fuel System. On certain trucks, when the ignition key is in the 'ON' position, the pre-heater, located in the fuel filter base, is energized. If this pre-heater is energized while maintenance is being performed on the fuel filter, diesel fuel could ignite within the filter housing. A fire within the fuel filter housing may spread possibly resulting in property damage or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the fuel heater assembly.
20072302007-07-11. Suspension. On certain trucks, the flange, crossmember, and web mounting surfaces of the center suspension mounting bracket casting may not be perpendicular. An out of square casting may have unacceptable stresses in the bracket when it is installed and may cause it to crack in service. The driveline may not be held in position if a cracked bracket fractures completely. This will affect vehicle control and may cause a crash without warning. Correction: Dealers will replace casting out of specs.
20072292007-07-11. Steering. On certain vehicles, the fasteners that attach the steering arm or tie rod arm to the spindle may have been over or under tightened during assembly process. Incorrectly torqued steering arm fasteners may fatigue and fracture, possibly causing a crash without warning. Correction: Dealers will inspect fasteners and apply correct tightening torque.
20071732007-05-31. Other. On certain trucks, the rear drive axle housing was manufactured with steel below the specified thickness, which could result in fatigue failure over time. If failure occurs, the outboard end of the housing could eventually separate, allowing the hub, axle shaft, and/or wheel and brake assembly to separate from the vehicle. This could cause a vehicle crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the axle assembly.

A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
