On certain Freightliner and Western Star vehicles with Detroit Diesel engines, the engine fan fails to activate when the A/C pressure switch circuit is opened, resulting in poor A/C cooling performance at idle.

Model Year 2022 Freightliner, Western Star, Freightliner Custom Chassis, and Thomas Built Bus vehicles manufactured with the following engines have been built without a Particulate Matter (PM)/Soot sensor: •DD15 Gen 5 (Gats 2.0) (with a June 2021 or later GHG build date) •DD13 Gen4 (1-box) (with a June 2021 or later GHG build date) •Cummins B6.7 (with a June 2021 or later GHG build date) •Cummins X15 with ratings of 400-500HP (with a June 2021 or later GHG build date) As a result, the vehicle has a non-conforming On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system. The engine manufacturers will pay to install the OBD PM sensor and corresponding software through a recall once sensors become available.
