Swapping the Driver Information Module (DIM) is strictly forbidden as the DIM it is the main carrier of the odometer function, and will, in case of swapping, result in manipulated odometer value. The sound may come from the balance shaft which is fitted in the oil sump area where the noise is most concentrated. A new design of the balance shaft is planned to be introduced 2018-Q2. Replace the balance shaft according the instructions in VIDA. Note: It's extremely important to adjust the new balance shaft with the correct tools according the instructions otherwise the sound may occur again in a short mileage.

Volvo Car USA LLC and Volvo Car Canada LTD (Volvo) on behalf of Volvo Car Group has decided to launch Recall R89712 on certain model year 2017 S60, V60, S60CC, V60CC, XC60 vehicles. The affected vehicles may have been equipped with front passenger and/or front seat side airbag inflators that do not meet specifications, and fail to deploy in the event of a crash. This could increase the risk of injury to the occupants. The corrective action is to replace the affected front passenger and/or front seat side airbag(s).

Technical Journal TITLE : The Error Frame Finder (EFF) can be an aid in fault tracing intermittent CAN network problems by providing a visible indication of error frames that are being transmitted on the network when the fault becomes active. The advantage of using the EFF function is that error frames are usually transmitted on the network before a vehicle symptom can occur. Hence, if the fault is very intermittent in nature, it may be possible, for example, to induce the wiring fault for a short duration by manipulating the vehicle harnesses and connectors. The electrical fault will occur and be detected by the EFF without ever having a vehicle symptom appear. The instructions for setting up the tool have been simplified.

This is a Technical Journal: Rough shifts, 5-4, Neutral Control, N-D TF80SC/SD Due to internal tolerance deviation in automatic gearbox, (TF80SC/SD) the customer may experience rough shift from 5:th to 4:th gear, or/and shift shock after standing still at brake release, or/and harsh engagement N-D shift. DTC TCM-P089500 might not be stored even with above stated symptoms. PRODUCT MODIFICATION: A modified TCM software with better adaptation functionality for internal tolerance deviation in automatic gearbox. Material for analysis can be requested in Vehicle Report.
