Service bulletins for the 2017 Volvo S90

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

542 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

Download the appropriate SP below to prevent the above symptoms and re-enable ERS XC90: SP 31676890, CMQ VCM Fix S90: SP 31676891, CMQ VCM Fix 3. Drive the vehicle over 20mph to release the VCM from diagnostic mode. ERS will be unavailable until this is done. 4. Close and lock the vehicle for 3+ minutes to allow the network to shut down before testing ERS. PLEASE NOTE - DO NOT perform a Total Upgrade or VCM Upgrade after performing this procedure (they will now appear in the Upgrades list). Doing so will re-install the affected software. - Not all battery drains are caused by this issue. *The repair software will be integrated with regular VCM Upgrade/Reload and Total Upgrade/PDS/Service 2.0 packages in the coming weeks *This TJ will be updated when the updated software packages are available.
