UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS THE SOFTWARE WITHIN THE CENTRAL ELECTRONIC MODULE (CEM) MAY NOT SEND A SIGNAL TO THE FUEL PUMP ELECTRONIC MODULE (PEM). THIS MISSING SIGNAL TO THE PEM INHIBITS THE START OF THE FUEL PUMP. THE DRIVER MAY BE ABLE TO START THE ENGINE IN SPITE OF THE FUEL PUMP NOT BEING ACTIVATED DUE TO RESIDUAL PRESSURE IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. IN SOME CASES, THE DRIVER MAY BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE A SHORT DISTANCE AT IDLE BUT THEN THE ENGINE MAY STALL. Built 2007-03-22 to 2009-07-09. |
| 09V218000 | 2009-06-12. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN. VOLVO IS RECALLING 17,614 MY 2008-2009 S80, V70, AND XC70 VEHICLES. THE ENGINE COOLING FAN MAY STOP WORKING DUE TO A SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING ERROR IN THE FAN CONTROL MODULE (FCM). DEPENDING ON DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE CUSTOMER MAY EXPERIENCE REDUCED AIR CONDITIONING PERFORMANCE, AND/OR RAPID INCREASE IN ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE. Built 2008-02-06 to 2008-03-11. |
| 09V139000 | 2009-04-29. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. VOLVO IS RECALLING 12,303 MY 2007-2008 S80 AND V70 VEHICLES. THE DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE IN THE CENTRAL ELECTRONIC MODULE (CEM) MAY CAUSE A MALFUNCTION OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FUNCTIONALITY. IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS MAY NOT OPERATE WHEN ACTIVATED; OR IN CERTAIN CASES THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS MAY ACTIVATE WHEN NOT SWITCHED ON. Built 2006-01-24 to 2007-08-24. |
| 08V206000 | 2008-05-06. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE. VOLVO IS RECALLING 102 MY 2008 XC90 AND S80 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH V8 ENGINES. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH INCORRECT BOLTS TO THE ENGINE MOUNT. Built 2008-03-03 to 2008-04-15. |
| 2020298 | 2020-06-30. Seats And Restraints. Issue: On certain vehicles, the flexible steel cable that attaches the seat belt to the outside of the front seats may weaken over time. As a result, the seat belt could detach. Safety Risk: A seat belt that detaches in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Corrective Action: Volvo will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the front-outboard seat belt anchors. |
|---|---|
| 2010396 | 2010-11-08. Accessories. On certain vehicles, there is a possibility of overheating issues of batteries in the Garmin nüvi® 760 when certain batteries manufactured within a limited date code range are used in certain Garmin nüvi® 760 models with a specific printed circuit board (PCB) design. The interaction of these factors can, in some circumstances, increase the possibility of overheating, which may lead to a fire. Correction: Dealers will direct customers who have an affected unit to the Garmin Web site, which explains how to verify if their units are involved and includes procedures to follow for product exchange. |
| 2009255 | 2009-09-08. Fuel System. On certain vehicles, the software within the Central Electronic Module (CEM) may not send a signal to the fuel Pump Electronic Module (PEM). This missing signal to the PEM inhibits the start of the fuel pump. The driver may be able to start the engine in spite of the fuel pump not being activated due to residual pressure in the fuel system. In some cases, the driver may be able to drive the vehicle a short distance at idle. However, the engine will eventually stall. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will upgrade the CEM software. |
| 2009179 | 2009-06-10. Engine. On certain vehicles, the engine cooling fan may stop working due to a software programming error in the Fan Control Module (FCM). Depending on conditions, the driver may experience reduced air conditioning performance and/or rapid increase in engine coolant temperature. This could result in a loss of cooling system function and engine break down. The driver may not have sufficient time to react to the warning light(s) or the text message in the instrument panel, increasing the risk of a crash causing personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the Fan Control Module. |
| 2009124 | 2009-04-23. Electrical. On certain vehicles, the diagnostic software in the Central Electronic Module (CEM) may cause a malfunction of the windshield wiper functionality. If this occurs, the windshield wipers may not operate when activated; or in certain cases the windshield wipers may activate when not switched on. Should this occur during a rainy/snowy day, it could increase the risk of a crash, causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install updated CEM software. |
| 2008150 | 2008-05-02. Engine. Certain vehicles may have been inadvertently assembled with incorrect engine mount bolts. The longer bolts do not provide adequate clamping force to the bracket. In the worst case, the aluminium bracket for the engine mount will break, allowing the engine to contact the sub frame, ultimately resulting in reduced engine torque or stalling. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the engine mount bolts for specific markings and, if required, replace the bracket and bolts. |
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
