Service bulletins for the 2011 Volkswagen Routan
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.
452 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

If key blade is found to stick or bind when opening or closing, check position of roll pin that secures key blade to mechanism. If roll pin is sticking out on either side (as shown below), do not replace key. Instead, use appropriate sized punch and hammer to drive in the roll pin so that it is flush with edge of mechanism. |

| TT191301 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. After a cold start, the engine coolant temperature gauge will slowly rise to approximately 190° F. When the F265 mapped thermostat opens, the gauge may drop by approximately 60° F before again rising to 190° F. No repairs should be attempted for this normal concern. F265 is pictured below. |
| TT151203a | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. When diagnosing faults P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, and/or P0306 for cylinder misfires, perform a Cylinder Combustion Pressure Leakage Test before replacing any components. |
| TT151203 | 2023-07-10. |
| TT131301a | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. When servicing the timing chain sprocket or removing the vibration damper, be aware that one bolt holds both the vibration damper (harmonic balancer) and the crankshaft timing chain sprocket to the crankshaft. Once the damper is removed, the crankshaft should not be rotated unless special tool spacer T10368 has been installed. The crankshaft timing chain sprocket and spur gear drive on the crankshaft have a coupling that must be seated correctly during assembly. Failure to install special tool spacer T10368 before rotating engine will cause the engine to skip time and bend valves. |

| TT001403 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:BLUETOOTH/WIFI; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. When performing SVM updates, the scan tool should be hardwired to the vehicle and the Bluetooth physically turned off. A hard wired internet connection is also recommended. |
| TT001401 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. To identify a misfiring cylinder when a random fault is set (P0300), utilize the following; Select PCM (ECM) from the module menu (figure 1). At the top of the screen, mouse over ?Monitors? to open the drop down list. Select OBD II monitors. From the OBD II monitor list (figure 2), scroll down and select ?Which cylinder is misfiring?(figure 3). A value block displaying all cylinder misfire counts can be viewed and also monitored while running to isolate the causal cylinder. Once the specific cylinder(s) have been isolated, proceed with misfire diagnosis to determine root cause and repair as necessary. |

| TT371202 | 2023-07-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. When diagnosing a transmission concern on a Routan, a quick learn may be suggested as a first step on vehicles with no fault codes. It will also be requested to observe the before and after quick learn values of the CVI. |
| TT371201 | 2023-07-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. The transmission will skip select gears during shifts to allow the engine to operate at lower speeds. |
| TT321401 | 2023-07-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Incorrect torque converter or flywheel/flexplate installation can result in transmission damage. When installing an engine, flywheel or transmission, please follow the installation procedures outlined in ELSA. For the flywheel/flexplate, please be certain the correct shim is installed between it and the crankshaft (reference VWIQ120). When installing a torque converter, press the torque converter hub through the seal as far as the first stop. Turn the torque converter while pushing toward the transmission using light force, until the cut outs in the torque converter hub lock into the pump wheel plate. The torque converter slides in. The torque converter is installed correctly if it is easy to turn by hand and if it fits evenly in the transmission bell housing. Additionally, it should spin freely when the transmission bell housing bolts are torqued to the engine block, prior to installation of the flywheel to converter bolts (reference VWIQ121). |
