Service bulletins for the 2010 Volkswagen Passat
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.
859 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

| TT641402 | 2023-07-31. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM:REAR WINDOW:ELECTRICAL HEATING ELEMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH; UNKNOWN OR OTHER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. To detect which line(s) is inoperative, utilize a volt meter to check for 0 V, which will be present after the open in the grid line. The check must be performed with the engine running and heated rear window switched on. Switch OFF the ignition and visually locate the damage. Proceed with checking any other lines as necessary. Once the damaged line is identified, repair utilizing the Repair kit by Permatex® ITEM 09117. |
| TT571302 | 2023-07-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:ANTI-THEFT:IMMOBILIZER/PROXIMITY:KEY/SENDER. If key blade is found to stick or bind when opening or closing, check position of roll pin that secures key blade to mechanism. If roll pin is sticking out on either side (as shown below), do not replace key. Instead, use appropriate sized punch and hammer to drive in the roll pin so that it is flush with edge of mechanism. |
| TT551203 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:ELECTRONIC LOCK/LATCH ACTUATOR; STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:INTERIOR LAMPS/BULBS. When diagnosing a power rear lid that will power open but will not power close, check operation of luggage compartment lamp W3. Lamp should be on with rear lid open and off with rear lid closed. |
| TT460904 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. PARKING BRAKE:ELECTRICAL:SWITCH; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE:ELECTRICAL:CONTROL MODULE; PARKING BRAKE. If fault code 03200 or 16352 is present in the Electromechanical Parking Brake (EPB) module, it may be due to the switch and module not being synchronized. |
| TT450904 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION; STEERING:RACK AND PINION:RACK; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:PARKING ASSIST:SENSORS; POWER TRAIN; STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STEERING:STEERING CONTROL MODULE. Some Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Passat vehicles equipped with electromechanical power steering have the G85 steering angle sensor located in the steering rack. These vehicles do not have a G85 in the steering column. To determine G85 location, check the J500 Power steering control module part number in the GFF printout. Do not use the part number on the steering rack for this check. |
| TT450903 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; STEERING; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:ELECTRIC:CONTROL MODULE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STEERING:RACK AND PINION:RACK. If, after replacement of the steering rack, fault code 01309 008 is set in the ABS/ESP module only, follow the test plan in GFF for Driver Steering Recommendation (DSR) or channel 3 activation. If the test plan fails to clear the fault, follow the direction below using Vehicle Self Diagnosis in Address Word 44 - Steering Assistance |
| TT4506122 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:INSTRUMENT PANEL:SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER:SENSOR/SENDING UNIT; SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE. Use the following procedure to diagnose active wheel speed sensor complaints |
| TT001403 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:BLUETOOTH/WIFI; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. When performing SVM updates, the scan tool should be hardwired to the vehicle and the Bluetooth physically turned off. A hard wired internet connection is also recommended. |
| V2719012011894_2 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Battery Testing and Charging using Midtronics VAS6161 and or GRX3000 Vas Charger |
| V011812201460319 | 2023-07-10. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Software Version Management (SVM) instruction. |
| TT271301 | 2023-07-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. When diagnosing a generator charging concern, it is recommended to verify operation of the one way clutch located in the generator pulley (if equipped) before replacing generator assembly. To check the one way clutch, remove the belt from the generator pulley and use a trim removal tool to hold fan blades inside generator, as shown below. When attempting to turn pulley by hand with fan blades held, pulley should spin freely in only one direction. If pulley spins freely in both directions, the one way clutch has failed and should be replaced before continuing diagnosis. |
| TT261402 | 2023-07-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM); ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Disconnect both O2 sensors (front and rear), start engine and let idle. Check MVB's 41/4 and 136/4 and verify have both changed from a 1 to a 0 (you may have to drive the car 4 miles to get them to reset to 0). Also a key cycle may be required for values to reset. This forces the ECM to re-learn the O2 sensor adaptation. Once MVB 41/4 and 136/4 read 0, re-connect the O2 sensors, road test and recheck for faults. |
| TT261303 | 2023-07-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Use of aftermarket air filters such as cotton bed steel mesh or cone style, can cause the MAF sensor to not read accurately, affecting vehicle performance and critical monitoring functions for the diesel particulate filter. This can also result in premature DPF failure. Only use factory air filters. The use of aftermarket air filters is not supported as the system was designed and calibrated to work with factory air filters. |
