Service bulletins for the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

To detect which line(s) is inoperative, utilize a volt meter to check for 0 V, which will be present after the open in the grid line. The check must be performed with the engine running and heated rear window switched on. Switch OFF the ignition and visually locate the damage. Proceed with checking any other lines as necessary. Once the damaged line is identified, repair utilizing the Repair kit by Permatex® ITEM 09117.
TT5713022023-07-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:ANTI-THEFT:IMMOBILIZER/PROXIMITY:KEY/SENDER. If key blade is found to stick or bind when opening or closing, check position of roll pin that secures key blade to mechanism. If roll pin is sticking out on either side (as shown below), do not replace key. Instead, use appropriate sized punch and hammer to drive in the roll pin so that it is flush with edge of mechanism.
TT0014032023-07-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:BLUETOOTH/WIFI; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. When performing SVM updates, the scan tool should be hardwired to the vehicle and the Bluetooth physically turned off. A hard wired internet connection is also recommended.
TT2808022023-07-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. If a customer comments that the key cannot be removed from the ignition when the transmission is in PARK or that the PRND12 is not reading correctly in the MFI, DO NOT replace the ignition switch, lock cylinder, or lock housing assembly. Instead, be sure the Ignition lock solenoid is working properly and/or check that the N376 (called the "catch"), is connected to the lock housing. In some cases you may get a fault code 00194 009 Ignition key removal from lock open circuit/ short to earth. Use MVB 5 in address word 16-Steering Column Electronics for an aid in diagnosis. Please be certain to use the VIN in ETKA to obtain the latest part number(s) available.
TT2801092023-07-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Be aware that there are 2 suppliers for the TDI glow plugs-Bosch and Beru. When replacing the glow plugs make sure that you do not mix stock. The vehicle must have all the same supplier or DTC P0380 (Glow Plug Monitoring) may set.
TT9714022023-06-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The DLC is intended for use with diagnostic scan tools and by emissions testing stations. However, aftermarket devices (i.e., drive data recorders) that connect to the DLC have now become available.
TT8710052023-06-13. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. For concerns of no or intermittent A/C operation where pressure diagnosis does not lead to a cause, be sure to check the N25 A/C clutch coil. The fan control module may send a brief voltage signal to the clutch and then shut it off due to an open or high resistance in the coil circuit. The coil resistance should be between 3.5 and 4.5 ohms. If the reading is high or low when checked at the fan module, be sure to double check right at the coil to rule out any wiring concerns. Additionally, check ground circuit integrity for the clutch coil.
