Service bulletins for the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

This selection is available under Guided Functions or GFF when using VAS-PC, an example is shown below.
V011316 20340462017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Technical Bulletin (Update Programming of ECM for Concerns of a Bump Sensation after Coming to a Stop): Current ECM programming may cause a bump after coming to a stop, which may be felt through the chassis of the vehicle. This concern is caused by the engine torque being slightly high when the transmission goes into Neutral Control. Neutral Control is designed to reduce load on the engine during idle, in order to decrease emissions. The production solution to this issue was improved software for smoother stopping.
V011317 20340122017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Technical Bulletin (Manifold Absolute Pressure Range / Performance Stored in ECM Fault Memory): Monitoring strategy for the manifold absolute pressure sensor is too sensitive, causing fault code P0106 to incorrectly set in the engine control module. The production solution to this issue was improved software. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.
V201305 20314262017-12-14. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Technical Bulletin (High Pressure Fuel Pump Diagnosis): Completing the GFF high pressure pump function test is essential to diagnose proper pump operation and to avoid unnecessary replacements. This document informs how to perform the diagnostic. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.

Technical Bulletin (Generator Replacement): This document informs of Charging System inoperative/malfunctions, noise from engine compartment, accessory drive belt damaged or missing. From this condition one or more of the following symptoms are possible * Discharged Battery * No Start * Battery Indicator illuminated in Instrument Cluster * "Low Voltage" DTCs in various control modules * Engine noise * Accessory Drive Belt damaged or missing If a generator is replaced, there must be a confirmed failed GFF Test Plan available, or in the event of a mechanical failure of the component, complete and detailed documentation of the reason for the replacement, which must be submitted into the warranty claim comments.
V281303 20321162017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Technical Bulletin (Cylinder Glow Plug issues): During the initial glow phase, after switching the ignition "On", the ECM performs a check of the glow plugs through the glow plug control module, to ensure the correct glow plugs are installed. If the engine is cranked during this check, lowering the system voltage, the ECM may receive an incorrect reading and set incorrect glow plug faults. A production solution is already being implemented for this issue. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.
V371301 20339752017-12-14. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; POWER TRAIN. If the basic setting is not fully restored (by continuing to hold the rotary switch in the down position until the sunroof has completed its full open/closed travel), fault codes (panoramic sunroof only) will set and the sunroof can no longer be opened. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.

Dealer Letter -2017-12-14. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP COMMUNICATION (Service Action 20T8 Install Misfueling Guard): Volkswagen has received feedback from some vehicle owners in localized areas who have concerns about their ability to refuel their vehicle after the 20T8 Service Action was performed. A few customers have advised that they are unable to fuel their vehicle at their preferred fueling stations or that it now takes a very long time to refuel. Volkswagen believes the root cause is attributed to damage and/or variances in diesel fuel nozzles found at fueling stations. At this time, Volkswagen has no evidence to conclude that there is any problem with the misfueling guard. Dealers should continue performing Service Action 20T8 on vehicles that show the code open in ElsaWeb. In discussing this action with customers, Volkswagen encourages to utilize the talking points in this document.
Campaign Circula2017-12-14. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Service Action Campaign (Certain 2009-2012 Model Year Vehicles with TDI Clean Diesel Engine Install Misfueling Guard): As diesel engine passenger vehicles become more popular, auto manufacturers have seen an increase in the number of misfueling cases where diesel engine vehicles are mistakenly fueled with gasoline. The resulting fuel system contamination can lead to costly repairs that are not covered under warranty. The corrective action taken for this issue was installing a misfueling guard in the fuel filler neck of vehicles.
