Service bulletins for the 2016 Toyota Prius V

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Any previous printed versions of this bulletin should be discarded. In the event that a Toyota vehicle becomes submerged in water, many components may be physically damaged. Electrical and electronic components, including wiring harnesses, are particularly susceptible to corrosion and subsequent malfunction. Although any flooding can be damaging, salt water flooding elevates the potential for abnormal conditions and may increase risks due to its highly corrosive and conductive nature. Salt residue also continues to corrode and remain conductive even after a vehicle dries. This bulletin is intended to assist with safe handling and inspection of flood damaged vehicles and to provide basic guidance on likely needed repairs.

T-SB-0025-152017-08-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. TSB: While a vehicle is in inventory, the battery is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and life. Batteries can become discharged due to an extended storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, or while demonstrating vehicle features and benefits in the sales process. Battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life. As described in this bulletin, operating the engine for 30 minutes after 60 days in storage and every 30 days thereafter will help to maintain battery State of Charge (SOC). This process supplements other movements of the vehicle as it is staged, and has specific restrictions on how maintenance is to be done. Also described in this bulletin are 2 other approved methods for maintaining battery State of Charge.

TSB: Some 2014 - 2016 model year Prius V vehicles may exhibit a MIL "ON" condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P2610 (ECM/PCM Engine Off Timer Performance) present. The Engine Control Module (ECM) logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of this condition. Follow the Repair Procedure below to address this condition.
T-SB-0069-152017-08-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL. TSB: Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) is a critical step in satisfying your dealership's new car customers. Customer feedback indicates the following areas deserve special attention when performing PDS: * Careful inspection for paint chips/scratches and body dents/dings. * Proper operation of electrical accessories (including interior light, clock, and radio reset). * Interior cleanliness. * Proper function of mechanical systems. Customer retention and proper maintenance of vehicles has been a major focus for Toyota. To help remind customers that regular oil changes are essential to the proper maintenance of their vehicle, dealers are required to begin installing a first oil change reminder sticker prior to delivery. By doing this, customers will be reminded to return to your dealership for their first oil change. Your current oil change reminder sticker may be used. (See PDS Check Sheet item 9 of "Final Inspection & Cleaning.") A New PDS Check Sheet has been developed for the 2016 model year Prius V. Some check points have been added, expanded, or clarified. Bulletins are available for items in bold type.

T-SB-0067-152017-08-14. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STEERING. TSB: The Advanced Parking Guidance System assists the driver during parking and parallel parking by displaying an image of the area behind the vehicle and controlling the steering wheel with the vehicle in reverse. Removing the short pin or disconnecting the battery interrupts power to the Steering Angle Sensor. When the short pin is reinstalled or the battery terminal is reconnected, the rear view monitor will operate, but the Steering Angle Sensor center position must be set through system initialization before the Advanced Parking Guidance System will become operational. Initialize the Advanced Parking Guidance System after installing the short pin during Pre-delivery Service (PDS).
T-SB-0087-14 Rev2017-08-14. Service bulletin. HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY. TSB: Prius and Mirai vehicles are equipped with 2 types of batteries: * Hybrid Vehicle (HV) battery * 12-volt auxiliary battery If Prius or Mirai vehicles are put into storage, the state of charge (SOC) of its HV battery and auxiliary battery will gradually decrease. To prevent the auxiliary battery from becoming discharged during storage, proper maintenance is necessary. Please perform the following maintenance service for the HV battery and 12-volt auxiliary battery. NOTE * Before disconnecting the auxiliary battery, confirm the shift lever is in the "P" position and apply the parking brake completely. The shift lever CANNOT be shifted from the "P" position with the 12-volt auxiliary battery disconnected. * If the negative (-) terminal of the auxiliary battery is reconnected, even if the power button is in the "START" mode, the hybrid/fuel cell system may NOT start. In this case, push the "POWER" button and select the "START" mode again to start the hybrid/fuel cell system (the "READY" light is ON). If the hybrid/fuel cell system still does NOT start (the "READY" light is OFF), refer to the Repair Manual.

T-SB-0067-152017-03-29. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. "TSB: THE ADVANCED PARKING GUIDANCE SYSTEM ASSISTS THE DRIVER DURING PARKING AND PARALLEL PARKING BY DISPLAYING AN IMAGE OF THE AREA BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND CONTROLLING THE STEERING WHEEL WITH THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. INITIALIZE THE ADVANCED PARKING GUIDANCE SYSTEM AFTER INSTALLING THE SHORT PIN DURING PRE-DELIVERY SERVICE (PDS)."
