TSB: Some 2005 ? 2022 model year Toyota vehicles that have undergone water intrusion may exhibit a condition in which a musty smell is present. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to remediate the odor and address this condition. The purpose of this service bulletin is to provide general guidelines and procedures for odor remediation. This service bulletin provides a guide on how to prepare the interior of the vehicle prior to an odor remediation being performed, as well as contact information for an approved vendor who will arrange the remediation, and instructions on how to prepare the interior of the vehicle for reassembly once the remediation has been completed. Refer to all model and model year specific Repair Manuals and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) website for the most up-to-date safety and precautionary guidelines. The paint stains may appear to be under the clear coat but are usually under wrinkles in the Rapgard. The wrinkles may trap water and cause the paint to stain from the trapped moisture, especially on horizontal surfaces, such as the hood, roof, and trunk. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

As part of the settlement Toyota will be launching the third phase of a Limited Service Campaign to install Smart Stop technology on March 31, 2014., for the following models:

Initial notification informing customers of the availability of Smart Stop Technology on certain models was handled by the court appointed administrator Gilardi and Company at the onset of the Class Action Settlement for Economic Loss. In addition to the initial notification, Toyota will be sending notifications to customers informing them of this LSC. These notifications are an integral part of our commitment to meet customer expectations of the Toyota products. We request your assistance in completing the Smart Stop Technology as owners receive the BST and contact your dealership. Please note the follow-up activity may cause an increase in your current campaign owner appointments.

TSB: REVISION NOTICE July 20, 2017 Rev1: Applicability has been updated to exclude 2007 ? 2017 model year Avanza vehicles. Some hazardous material treatment and handling regulations at the state and local level define the pre-disposal deployment of airbag and pre-tensioner assemblies as hazardous material treatment. Hazardous material treatment may require special training, certification or licensing in certain areas. TMS recommends that dealership personnel carefully review and follow ALL local and state regulations, and where necessary, contract with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Licensed Hazardous Waste Transportation and Disposal facilities.
