Recalls that may apply to the 2005 Thomas Built HDX
A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.

| 2015291 | 2015-06-29. Structure. On certain school buses, the stem which joins the outside emergency door handle to the emergency door opening mechanism may potentially corrode. Excessive material loss of the stem due to corrosion could result in the outside handle separating from the door mechanism while trying to open the door from the exterior of the bus. In the event of an emergency, this could delay evacuation of the vehicle and increase the risk of injury to occupants. Correction: Dealers will inspect the stems and either replace or protect them against further corrosion. |

| 2008436 | 2008-12-15. Fuel System. On certain vehicles, high pressure fuel lines and transfer tubes may fatigue and fracture, causing a diesel fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel lines and transfer tubes with more robust versions. |
| 2008417 | 2008-11-19. Electrical. On certain buses, circuit breakers may trip unnecessarily resulting in a loss of power to chassis and body electrical circuits. Unexpected loss of exterior lighting and/or engine stalling, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reaction, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the solid state dual power switch with mechanical circuit protection (Mega Fuse). |
| 2008064 | 2008-02-22. Other. On certain school buses, the rear emergency exit exterior door handle may be severely weakened over time by corrosion. In the event of an emergency, a person on the outside of the bus may break the door handle trying to open the emergency exit, potentially delaying evacuation and increasing the risk of personal injury to the vehicle's occupants. Correction: Dealers will replace the aluminium handles with more robust versions. |
| 2008062 | 2008-02-21. Other. On certain school buses equipped with Braun platform lifts, a passenger can approach the exposed lift doorway without the audible alarm alerting them of their proximity to the threshold. Should the threshold warning system fail to operate, the lift user can fall from the vehicle and be seriously injured. Correction: Owners will be provided with inspection and retrofit instructions. Note: Further evaluation revealed that only U.S. vehicles are involved. |
| 2007386 | 2007-12-03. Electrical. On certain buses, the Type II auto reset circuit breaker temperatures may exceed the rating of the circuit board. This could cause the board to melt, potentially resulting in a vehicle fire. If this occurs while the vehicle is underway, it could cause a vehicle crash resulting in property damage and/or personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the auto reset circuit breakers with manual circuit breakers and jumper cables. |
| 2007231 | 2007-07-11. Brakes. On certain vehicles, the internal rubber check valve inside the Bendix SR-7 spring brake modulating valve can become deformed over time. The effect of this defect is intermittent and presents a potential delay or failure in applying the parking brakes; potentially resulting in a vehicle roll away. Should this occur, the unattended roll away vehicle could strike a bystander or cause property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a check valve repair kit. |
| 2006097 | 2006-05-01. Electrical. On certain school buses, the body Power Distribution Module (PDM) was manufactured with copper circuits that are too thin for the electrical loads encountered, possibly resulting in an overheat condition. This condition, if not addressed, may cause a vehicle fire, possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the PDM with an updated unit. |
| 2006084 | 2006-04-19. Suspension. On certain vehicles, the rear suspension transverse beam castings were not made to specifications. If a casting were to break when the vehicle is in motion, parts could become projectiles with potential to cause property damage, personal injury or death. Also, the transverse beam may drop down low enough to contact the road surface causing sparks that could ignite a fire. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transverse beams. |
| 2005293 | 2005-10-05. Other. On certain school buses, in extreme cold weather, the microswitches used internally to position the stop arm sign in the open and closed positions may malfunction, causing the sign to open or close in an improper position, or to not open at all. Should the stop arm not perform properly, a child or pedestrian may be endangered by passing vehicles should the motorist not stop at the correct location. Correction: Dealers will retrofit the stop arm with a switch pack that is not sensitive to extreme cold weather. |
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
