Service bulletins for the 2021 Tesla Model S

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

91 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

On certain Model S and Model X vehicles built between approximately January 2021 and September 22, 2022, the High Voltage (HV) battery ports’ plungers intended for internal water leak egress (also known as flood ports) can be replaced with plungers that are more robust against external ingress due to submersion during flooding or other similar high-severity abuse instances. Replace all 5 flood port plungers with updated parts. This new revision, R2, updates the affected Countries/Regions.
NHTSA 110214942025-08-05. Other. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Messaging sent directly to customers who have queued with Tesla Service to perform Service Bulletin SB-25-16-002 "Replace Flood Port Plungers". The customer is informed that their vehicle is in queue to receive parts and repairs, Tesla Service will reach out to them when the Service Center is ready to schedule vehicle service, and what to do if the vehicle is exposed/will be exposed to flooding.
NHTSA 110214932025-08-05. Other. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Proactive messaging sent directly to customers affected by Service Bulletin SB-25-16-002 "Replace Flood Port Plungers". The customer is informed that their vehicle is impacted by Service Bulletin SB-25-16-002, the benefits of performing the bulletin repair, and what to do if the vehicle is exposed/will be exposed to flooding.

SB-24-21-0012024-06-20. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. On certain Model S and Model X vehicles built before November 1, 2021, the vehicle may lack Bluetooth headphone hardware support for the rear touchscreen audio.
SB23-00-0062023-12-18. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Some model year 2021-2023 Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid vehicles running a vehicle software version earlier than 2023.44 may require a vehicle software update to address a mild vibration felt from the accelerator pedal and steering yoke/wheel that may occur during acceleration. This behavior does not affect the operation or safety of the vehicle. The software update adjusts certain motor controls during acceleration that may reduce the vehicle's rated range by up to 2 miles (3.2 km).
SB-23-17-002 R12023-08-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: RADAR. In 2021 - 2022 Model S vehicles running software version 2022.20.9 or later, Autopilot and Active Safety Features that were using front radar sensor data transitioned to using camera data (Tesla Vision), making the front radar sensor unnecessary.
