| WQS-54 | 2018-06-11. Service bulletin. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL; LANE DEPARTURE: LANE KEEP: STEERING ASSIST; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: DYNAMIC BRAKE SUPPORT/BRAKE ASSIST; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) is recalling certain 2015 model year Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, Subaru Impreza (4Door and 5Door) and Subaru XV Crosstrek vehicles and certain 2016MY Subaru WRX vehicles equipped with a Driver Assist System. The programming of the Driver Assist System will not detect a fault in one of the associated system components. In the event of Brake Lamp Switch (BLS) failure, the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) correctly detects the BLS failure, but the Driver Assist System will be delayed in detecting the BLS failure. Therefore, it will take longer for the multi information display to inform the driver of a malfunction. In addition, VDC will not receive the brake request from the Driver Assist System, resulting in no automatic braking, including Adaptive Cruise Control and PreCollision Braking. |

This bulletin announces the availability of reprogramming files and a revised oil level switch to optimize the ECM logic for engine oil level detection in the event of false or premature low engine oil level warning lamp illumination. Should a customer present a concern with a low engine oil warning lamp illumination and the diagnosis indicate the oil level is full or nearly full (oil level between the full and add marks/holes on the dipstick) and the customer has not added any engine oil, the ECM must be updated with this new logic and the oil level switch specified below replaced. The new oil level switch part number supplied in this bulletin must be used. If the customer has added oil, determine how much was added. Based upon the information provided, estimate where the oil level was when the lamp illuminated in order to determine if additional action is required beyond what is described in this bulletin (e.g an oil consumption test).
