Service bulletins for the 2009 Subaru Legacy
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 01-168-09R | 2018-06-11. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Revised TSB. The Subaru Lock Information Site (SLIS) is located at http://lockinfo.subaru.com, and provides information on how to obtain immobilizer codes and key cut codes for Subaru vehicles from the 2000MY to present. This bulletin identifies the equipment required to initialize (reset) the immobilizer code and cut the key blanks, for both immobilizer and non-immobilizer type keys. New Subaru Recall Campaigns TKA-16, TKB-16, TKC-16 covering all non-desiccated frontal Takata PSAN inflators. Each phase of the expansions will address the most at risk vehicles first and is divided into three geographic zones based on temperature fluctuations and humidity and the exposure time required under those environmental conditions to degrade the propellant to the point where it poses an unreasonable risk to safety. |

| WQR53-memo | 2018-06-04. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS. NHTSA announced in a press conference today, the planned expansion of the airbag inflator recall to an additional 35 to 40 million vehicles from various manufacturers nationwide. | 12-197-16R | 2018-05-29. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. As part of our dedication to customer satisfaction, Subaru of America, Inc. is initiating a program to extend the original New Car Limited Warranty coverage of the instrument panel (IP) or dashboard assembly on the applicable vehicles listed above to 10 years/regardless of miles from the original warranty start date. This warranty extension will cover a ONE-TIME replacement of the IP if it melts or becomes sticky to the touch as a result of exposure to heat and/or humidity conditions. This extension will NOT cover IPs with damage resulting from outside influence such as abuse, vandalism or application of harsh chemicals such as acids, bases, or petroleum products. |
| WVU31R | 2018-04-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. 2.5 Liter N/A engine only. REVISED. Subaru of America, Inc. has determined that vehicles affected by this Service Program require ECM reprogramming. A modification to the Engine Control Module software logic has been developed to improve the performance of the emission control system. This software change will not adversely affect fuel economy or performance. This software update is intended to improve vehicle emissions when the vehicle is operated in cold weather and the engine is turned off and restarted within short periods of time such as in several minute intervals. The A/F sensor contains a heating element, which is controlled by the ECM, and which assists the sensor in reaching an optimum temperature, resulting in better accuracy. When the vehicle is operated under the conditions described above, there could be a longer than desired delay in the ECM?s turning on the A/F sensor heating element, resulting in higher than desired emissions. This software enhancement will correct that condition. |
| WVM23R | 2018-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. REVISED. CA PZEV SPEC MODELS ONLY. Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) has determined that vehicles affected by this Service Program require ECM reprogramming. Under certain severe driving patterns, such as high speed highway/uphill driving and/or accelerating with high engine revolutions, the efficiency of an affected vehicle?s catalytic converter may begin to degrade beyond design parameters. (The ?Check Engine? light will illuminate to alert the driver if the catalytic converter efficiency has degraded beyond an acceptable level and if the vehicle may be releasing air pollutants that exceed Federal or California emission standards.) To prevent this condition, a modification to the Engine Control Module software logic has been developed that will improve management of the catalytic converter. This condition is a software issue and has no impact on vehicle drivability. |
