Service bulletins for the 2013 Subaru BRZ

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

09-54-12R2019-02-25. Service bulletin. ENGINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This bulletin provides a procedure to address customer concerns of a high-pitched ?chirp?, ?squeak? or ?cricket? sound heard coming from the engine?s Direct Injection (DI) high-pressure fuel pump. Not all DI pumps may exhibit this sound. Some vehicles may have components which in combination with certain fuel temperatures and / or formulations, may result in aeration of the fuel within the body of the pump and cause this sound. This result is non-detrimental to the vehicle. Production changes have been made to eliminate the source of the sound.
09-54-12R2019-02-19. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE.
07-133-182019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. This Service Information Bulletin announces design changes to the engine?s knock sensor which will help improve vehicle assembly line efficiency and increase durability. In some cases, the Check Engine light may illuminate and a knock sensor-related DTC set in the ECM memory: P0327, P0328, P0332 and P0333. The knock sensor for DIT engines is now utilized for NA engines to improve durability and resistance to heat.
09-54-12R2018-06-18. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information regarding a high-pitched ?chirp?, ?squeak? or ?cricket? sound you may hear coming from the engine?s high-pressure fuel pump. Not all pumps may exhibit this condition. Some may have a plunger stopper shape which in combination with certain fuel temperatures or fuel formulations, may result in aeration of the fuel within the body of the pump and cause this sound when the engine is idling. This result is non-detrimental to the fuel system or engine. A production change was made to an internal fuel passage along with a change to the shape of the plunger stopper thus eliminating the source of the sound. Once the sound has been confirmed, the high-pressure pump assembly must be replaced to remedy the condition.
03-80-182018-06-18. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This Service Information bulletin announces a change to the flywheel (pilot) bearing to a ?environmentally friendly? type which is compliant with the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of CHemicals) guidelines being used in the European Union (EU). This change is not intended to address any specific customer concern.

This Bulletin provides a procedure for diagnosis and determination of necessary part replacement in the event any of the ?AVCS Slow Response? or ?AVCS System Failure? DTCs listed above are found to be stored in the ECM memory. A possible cause of these conditions is contamination within the camshaft sprocket and / or oil control solenoid valve (OCV) mechanism.
09-54-12R2018-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This bulletin provides a procedure to address customer concerns of a high-pitched "chirp", "squeak" or "cricket" sound heard coming from the engine's Direct Injection (DI) high-pressure fuel pump. IMPORTANT: A "clack" or mechanical "ticking" sound also made by operation of the highpressure fuel pump is considered to be a normal operating characteristic and no attempt should be made to repair it.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
