Service bulletins for the 2005 Subaru Baja
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA announced in a press conference today, the planned expansion of the airbag inflator recall to an additional 35 to 40 million vehicles from various manufacturers nationwide. We are currently assessing which of our models may be covered. We hope to make that determination soon. When specific vehicles are identified, owners will be notified plus vehicle identification numbers (VINs) can be researched on Subaru.com or on the NHTSA web site Safercar.gov. |
| WQR53 | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS. Based on ballistic testing results, it has been determined that affected vehicles with registration history in high absolute humidity (HAH) areas are more susceptible to rupture. Owner notification letters were mailed to the owners of those vehicles on January 29, 2016. On Friday, February 12, 2016 initial owner notification letters will be mailed to the current owners of non?HAH vehicles. Non?HAH vehicles have not had any registration history in the high absolute humidity areas. |

| WQR-53UM | 2016-11-16. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS. WE ANNOUNCED LATE LAST MONTH THAT THE WQR-53 TAKATA FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR RECALL HAS BEEN EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL 2005-2008 MODEL YEAR LEGACY AND OUTBACK VEHICLES. DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE INDUSTRY-WIDE TAKATA RECALL SITUATION, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT ALL SUBARU RETAILERS ENSURE THAT RECALLED VEHICLES ARE REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. BASED ON BALLISTIC TESTING RESULTS, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT AFFECTED VEHICLES WITH REGISTRATION HISTORY IN HIGH ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY (HAH) AREAS ARE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO RUPTURE. THEREFORE, WE URGE YOU TO FOCUS YOUR INITIAL EFFORTS ON CONTACTING YOUR AFFECTED CUSTOMERS WITH A REGISTRATION HISTORY IN THE HAH AREAS, TO SCHEDULE AND COMPLETE THIS REPAIR (SEE AFFECTED VIN LISTS BELOW). |

ALTHOUGH THE PERCENTAGE OF AFFECTED VEHICLES IS UNKNOWN, THIS RECALL WILL INVOLVE REPLACING THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR ON ALL OF THE POTENTIALLY AFFECTED VEHICLES." |
