Axle Assembly, Axle Carrier, Axle Ring and Pinion Engineering is currently investigating concerns with pinion seals on the 2014-15 MY Ram 1500 Pick-up with a rear axle manufactured within the October to November 2014 calendar year. Please contact Ridhan Riyal at cell (810) 513-3832 for further instruction. If he cannot be reached with 15 minutes proceed with your repair.~ The DS Limited Slip Differential operates as a torque sensing device because when torque is applied to the differential gear set the reaction forces of the bevel gears apply an axial force into the clutch system providing the torque bias. When the input torque is very low the reaction forces will decrease allowing the differential to ACT SIMILIAR TO A OPEN DIFFERENTIAL (zero preload). Please do not confuse this with prior model year Limited Slip Differentials. See the service manual for complete details.
90036692018-06-11. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Auto Trans Rotary Electronic Shifter The rotary shifter is designed to actuate a motor within the device whenever the driver places their foot on the brake, with the car in Park (or Neutral). This generates a noise with each brake press/release. Therefore, even after replacing the shifter for a noise complaint, the replacementpart will also have a characteristic noise generated whenever the driver steps on the brake. Before performing a repair procedure for a noise complaint, please perform a subjective analysis of the noise coming from the rotary shifter. If the shifter noise is deemed abnormal sound (has an uncharacteristic buzz or grind), please proceed with normal replacement procedure. If so equipped, record the sound with a handheld microphone, or cell phone, and if noise is above 54dB @ 30cm away from the knob, please proceed with normal replacement procedure. Some customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1239 - Engine Oil Temperature Too Low. Software enhancements will improve diagnostic strategies and engine stop/start performance during cold ambient temperatures with extended idle times.
