Service bulletins for the 1992 Pontiac Sunbird
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| CAMP/93C54A | 1995-02-07. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT SOME 1992-93 PONTIAC SUNBIRD MODEL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.0L ENGINE MAY HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED WITH THE INCORRECT COOLANT PUMP. COOLANT MAY LEAK PAST THE INTERNAL COOLANT PUMP SEAL AND INTO THE PUMP BEARINGS. THIS MAY CAUSE PREMATURE BEARING FAILURE RESULTING IN A COOLANT PUMPING NOISE. IF NOT REPAIRED, THIS CONDITION MAY RESULT IN A LOOSE TIMING BELT TENSIONER WHICH COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL. TO PREVENT THIS CONDITION FROM OCCURRING, DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLE'S COOLANT PUMP AND REPLACE THE PUMP IF NECESSARY. *TW |
